Lynne Stewart was the lawyer for the "Blind Sheihk" or whatever his name was. While he was in custody, she delivered messages to his jihadist followers. She has been convicted, and righfully so, of providing support to terrorism, but only received a sentence of 28 months in jail. How is that right?

IMO she is guilty of treason.

Thoughts?

She should have been disbarred for violating her agreement, but treason? The worst of the government charges were thrown out, and the 30 years requested were based on those charges. I certainly wouldn't advocate killing her.
It should have been a longer sentence. Ten years sounds about right to me.
From what I've heard/read, she wasn't delivering messages to followers, but to media outlets...which were apparently used to deliver messages to his followers. Granted, I haven't been following this story with much interest.

Stupid...yes...treasonous...I'm not so sure.

I think jail time is in order, because she should have been more careful and aware of what she was dealing with.
She delivered message to media outlets, but also covered for her client when he was talking to people he wasn't supposed to talk to, allegedly.
One reason the sentence is so light is that apparently they could not link any attacks to the messages.

Which begs the question, are we supposed to wait until a building explodes before we take the passing of such messages seriously?

Another reason is that she is old (67) and sick, and that a longer sentence would mean she would die in prison. So? what is wrong with that? But in court, she acted sick, and after court she celebrated the light sentence, saying she could do that standing on her head.

BTW, I heard that her defense was partially funded by Soros.
From what I understand, if anyone was going to be killed it was going to be in Egypt, not the US. The message that she sent through the media was "Kill Egyptians." One could make a case that this was code for "Kill Americans," but then they'd have to show that there was somebody trying to kill Americans because of what she passed on.

The fact that she passed on a message to kill Egyptians was stupid enough on its own.

Oh, that explains it.

Egyptians = 28 months
Americans = 30 years.

I wonder what the going rates are for "Kill Brits" or "Kill Turks".
