what was behind the recent, sudden drop in lcd monitor prices? I had been waiting and watching for the last couple years and they just weren't budging, then last week I was in Best Buy and noticed the 19-inchers were about $150 less than before...finally. It just seems like there must have been some specific reason...anyone know? I'm not buying one just yet because I've been using my laptop mostly. It looks like CRT's are really on the way out now and the landfills will be receiving tons of them over the next few years, along with standard-def tube TV's.
Prices are dropping due to mass production and economies of scale. CRTS still have some advantages over LCDs such as black levels and off axis viewing.... but size, res, and weight LCDs will be taking over.
