yeah, i read this yesterday. his ego is off the charts. but his music bangs, so i'll have to see. my aunt said she'd get me the album in about a week, so i'll tell you how good it is. i like the two songs i've heard off of it.

Correct me if I am wrong but someone said he basically shut up the whole G-Unit clique. True or False?
I thought " The Documentary" was OK.... I just got tired of him talking about paying homage to NWA and Compton and the constant talking about making a classic cd. It had about 4 stand out tracks IMO... Westside Story, Dreams, How We Do, and We Ain't. There are some other good songs as well...but these are the standout songs IMO.

i'm not really sure if he shut them up, but he was the most talented artist and when he left, 50 began this mad scramble to sign a ton of artists so he could build up his number of allies. only problem is, he signed people who don't have any talent. So, i wouldn't say g-unit is declining, because buck, banks and 50 are doing fine, but the problem is, nobody cares about the crap 50 signed.
i enjoyed the documentary, it had a handful of tracks that were awesome but not mainstream. the 4 you listed are excellent, but there a bunch more. The biggest problem IMO was that the fat wasn't cut. there were too many tracks. And Game's biggest problem is exactly what you said; he namedrops way too much. i'd like to see him dominate without mentioning dre and snoop a million times.

WORD!!!
Has he corrected this on the new stuff you have heard?
I don't mind saying these are my boys, I repsect/love these guys, and these guys influenced me to make so and so ...but he spent way to much lyrical content on that instead of just straight rapping.

Has Dr Dre stated FOR A FACT that DeTox is NOT coming out? I hear yes one day, no the next. I think the rap games needs Dre to drop DeTox.

he has not corrected it on the 2 songs that are out. he name dropped like crazy. i'm hoping he cuts it out on the grimy/non-mainstream tracks, but i doubt it.
as far as detox, i think it'll be out one day. my aunt has talked to dre about it and he said he keeps trying to get into the booth and hammer it out, but he's so busy producing everyone else's projects. the problem is, the hip hop community needs a Dre album as bad as it does a Jigga album. as well as Nas and eminem.

I also think the rap game needs a COMMERCIALLY SUCCESSFULL cd by
Rakim, or hell Eric B and Rakim reunion. Granted I heard a new Rakim cd should be out on Dre's Aftermath sooner or later
Public Enemy / KRS One ... I guess they have gone Indy for now till the rap game can embrace political conciousness again. Not jsut gang / street life
A Tribe Called Quest / De La Soul cd... fresh ideas and music.
A reunited NWA... one of the few gangster rap groups that could be political and thug at the same time. --- TOO bad the possibility of this is near 0 b/c Dre and Cube are so busy. I don't think you'd ahve too much trouble getting MC Ren, DJ Yella, and Snoop ( Snoop replaced Easy E when they did Chin Check a few years ago ) in on the project.
Wu Tang Clan!!! But this Wu Tang can't be like their last few efforts... it needs to be like 36 Chambers and Forever... bring back the kung fu movie sound bytes and lots of killer lyrics and their "style" of beats. It might be THE SAME w/o ODB ..but they should try
PLEASE NOTE I SAID COMMERCIALLY SUCCESSFULL ... indy cd w/ no marketing and promotion would do NOTHING for the current state of rap music.

rakim was supposed to put out an album on aftermath, but i'm pretty sure he left, because he wasn't getting enough creative control.
the word is that the Wu might be making an album together, but i'll believe it when i see it.
i do know that only built for cuban linx 2, should be coming out in the 1st quarter next year. RZA and Dre are executive producing. i'm not sure if you know, but raekwon is on aftermath.

I know many of my rap fan freinds were all about Raekwon's Cuban Linx cd... I HATED IT. I couldn't tell you why exactly but I DID NOT LIKE IT AT ALL.
The only solo effort out of the Wu Tang group I thought was excellent was Liquid Swords by the Genious/Gza. Meth's were ok but now he has played himslef out w/ crappy releases.

oh, it leaked over a week ago. It's a pretty good album, nothing epic. the production is awesome, but his lyrics are even worse than the Doc. At least on The Doc he had a bunch of songs where he actually rhymed about important things. In this album he mentions Dre hundreds of times and only has a few tracks where he talks about something other than chronic, impalas, or switches.

I gotta agree w/ Swoosh on the beats.
And the OVERUSE of drinking, smoking chronic, riding on wires in a 64.... , Dr Dre, et. all.
However Swoosh... I must say too may crappy choruses in the songs.
And one track sounded like he ripped Easy Es "Two Hard Mutha's " track. And he also ripped Public Enemy's "Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos" beat...and not even an angry rhyme.... misuse of a great beat by PE.

PTNC is really digging "California Vacation."

Song by song review
#1 Lookin At You
--Nice beat but crappy chorus. Lyrics pretty good... basicall about how my last cd was, how my new cd will be, and why I am so great. IF he had of left off the chorus this would be a top track on the cd.
#2 Da Sh**
--I hate the beat, chorus, and lyrics to this song.
#3 It's Okay ( One Blood)
--NICE "banging" beat. Hate the regae chorus. Pretty good lyrics... basically about selling cds and gangbanging
#4 Compton
--NICE drum beat..reminds me of Easy Es "Two Hard Muthas" track. But the Chorus really craps the song out. Basically about his city
#5 Remedy
--Samples Public Enemy's "Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos" beat--and granted The Game has the voice and style to do justice to this beat but since the song is non-political it doesn't fo the beat jsutice. Lyrics pretty solid.
#6 Let's Ride
--nice West Coast G-Funk beat to ride to.... basically about riding around in your '64
#7 Too Much
--another nice G-Funk/70s soul beat that is good to cruise too. Good lyrics... basically about everything you can do too much too/with funny same can be said about some things he uses throughout the cd.
#7 Woudn't Get Far
--70s sould beat w/ some DJ effects. Don't like the chourus/hook in the song. Don't like... Basically how some folks are unsuccessfull and waht they do that holds them back.
#8 Scream On Em
--Another "bang beat" and I swear I should know where the beat came from. has a few DJ effects to it. Lyrics are ok.... just regualr game stuff.
#9 One Night
--Soul/R&B beat w/ a hint of Jazz... nice lyrics about reminising
#10 Doctor's Advocate
--Jazzy kind of beat... f/ Busta Rhymes talks about Aftermath.... ehhh not a good title track IMO
#11 Ol' English
--Slooooooow G Funk Beat ...definatley feels like a song to drink too. A song where the chorus reall works with the song. Basically about what you do when drinking OE.
#12 California Vacation
--Has that late 80's early 90's gangsta beat. You got Game, Xzibit, Snoop, and a few others guest rapping. basically about he loves the west coast and how the west coast does things. BEST TRACK OF THE ENTIRE CD.
#13 Bang
--Nice beat about well banging..... Pretty good song for beat and lyrics
#14 Around the World
--Funk type beat pretty cool...and the chorus fits this time as well. Basically about him and a girl
#15 Why You Hate The Game
--70s funk/soul beat... basically about why he is SOOOOOOOO good
Ok, like I said before.... the problem with The Game is he needs to cut down on the following references to: Dr Dre, Compton, Aftermath, NWA, Chronic, low riding, making a classic....... He really needs to expand is subject repetoire or folks will get tired of him by cd #3.
Now....
Documentary vs Doctor's Advocate
Doc has more "jams." "California Vacation" is the only one that qualifies on DA. Overall they are about the same quality wise. His beat production definatley went up on his new cd.
If you liked Doc you will also like this cd.
2.25/5*s I give lower marks than Swoosh b/c of docking for repetetiveness.

Actually swoosh, in looking at your song by song review.... we are almost saying the same thing on each song... I guess my style of review is a little different.... I tried to describe the beat and what the song was about... and gave MO of lyrics and beat...
But I guess.... if you gave it such a high score after not really "liking" a lof the tracks for lyrics ...but liking beats and I gave Mo of hte total package we really meant the same thing.
And IMO for The Game to be even more successfull he needs to expand his rap topics or he will be passed by by album 3... excpet maybe in Compton...but Compton sales alone can't sustain a rap career.

well, to start, a lot of people think some of those beats are dre beats, but they're under the name of other producers. as for the rest, it's because of 50. Dre wanted Game to stop beefing with 50 and when he recognized that it was a futile request, he moved game from aftermath to geffen so that 50 wouldn't have to deal with being on the same label as Game. Aftermath and Geffen are all under the same umbrella. the only difference is the name.

nah, dre loves game, i think he's torn between two pupils.
what you have to remember about Game is that he's..how should i put this? i think completely insane would fit here. He's like the rap version of ron artest.
