ESPN is reporting. My condolences to the Lidle family and the Yankee organization.

it's too bad people other than lidle died, because there would be some awesome jokes. but yeah, my condolences to the families.

how is it that small planes are allowed to get so close to NYC without alerting the FAA? I think that whole law where planes that size don't have to alert the NTSB, is ridiculous.

What do you mean?

well, the yanks just got embarrassed. for instance, one could say, "that's the first thing the yankees have hit in awhile." those jokes would be great, unfortunately, they're completely inappropriate.

They would have been appropriate if only Lidle had died? Wow.

I saw it on Foxnews.

jokes would be wrong regardless of how many had died.
Unless you're a moron!

well, obviously you haven't been listening to people. i've heard plenty of jokes already. like "is it fair to say lidle's been traded to the Angels?"

i can't front, they're pretty funny.

Who are these people you're talking about? I've been watching a lot of the coverage, and I've heard none of this. Whoever would make jokes about a guy who just tragically died is sick anyway.
Laughing at jokes about a guy that has just tragically died? Maybe think before posting next time.

I met Cory after a Red's game a few years ago, great guy. Very nice man with a young boy and a wife. I feel for him and his family. This kind of stuff puts sports in perspective.
He played for the Durham Bulls when we won back to back championships. Swoosh, you should find some better people to hang out with...

that's funny, because he was hated all around baseball by players and coaches. he ran himself out of philly pretty quickly. He had a habit of criticizing everyone. not to mention he totally ripped the yankees the other day. He called out joe torre and said they weren't prepared for the series. Apparently, the fans got all pissed off like, 'who the hell is this guy to call out Torre?' He did an interview on WFAN and i heard it got really testy.

also, i feel bad for the guy's family, i really do, but i can't help if a joke is funny. You guys always get too sensitive.

umm, i feel bad for the guy's family, but i can't help if a joke is funny.

So your saying he got what was coming for him? Even if you think he was a jackass your comments are still insensitive.

i'm not saying that at all. Nobody deserves that, except armando benitez, but that's another story. All i meant was, it's too bad something tragic had to happen, because there coulda been some killer jokes. Now, if you guys had a personality you might recognize that someone could feel bad for a whole bunch of people and still laugh at a couple side jokes.
it's like, some people make cancer jokes and i laugh at them, even though my grandma died of cancer. i have no problem with that. as long as people aren't making fun of my grandma. i guess i'm just not easily offended.

I understand what your saying, I find some pretty bad stuff humurous as well. But the difference is Lidle died maybe 7 hours ago, when did your grandma die? 2 years ago? 5 years ago?

i dunno, i think it was 9 years ago. let me clear this up, because my comments were tactless, i didn't get across what i meant to. I don't find his death humorous. in fact i find it awful. A young guy leaving behind a kid and a wife is never funny. on top of that i think 1 or 2 people in the building died, which is terrible. I'm just saying that it's kinda ironic that a guy whose amazingly popular team was just embarrassed, who also made a ton of stupid and selfish statements, should die all of a sudden. it opens the door for some jokes that shouldn't be funny, but definitely are.
This isn't about being sensitive or insensitive. This is about respecting the dignity of a man's life that was tragically cut short. I'm not going to shed any tears over you making any jokes, but I think you should show some more respect.

i think i feel just as bad as you do. i respect the man's life, not the man himself, and i haven't made any jokes, i only laughed at them. i'm sorry if i can't turn off my funny bone, like you can.

Okay.
did any of you know that he crossed the picket line back in '94? i read about that yesterday. that's why he wasn't part of the union.

I had always known that because he was never in any of the baseball video games. You always had to create him...along with Rick Reed, Tom Martin, Kevin Millar, Kerry Ligtenberg, Barry Bonds (in the last couple of years), Brendan Donnelly, Damian Miller and others.
