P.S. why aren't there any threads talking about N. Korea on this board. Isn't this the most important story in politics at the moment?
I dont see where they're calling BS on it. You dont register a 4 on the richter scale without having done something significant. Whats more likely is that they tested a nuke, but it wasnt 100% successful. But that dosent mean they didnt set off a nuke.

Quote:based on preliminary indications, that North Korea did not produce its first nuclear blast yesterday.

"We need to find out precisely what it is that took place yesterday, and that is something that's going to take awhile for the scientists and others to work through," Mr. Snow said.
...
Nuclear bombs make big waves, with clear signatures that make them fairly easy to detect, analyze and confirm that they were caused by splitting atoms. But smaller blasts -- as North Korea's appears to have been -- are trickier to break down, scientists told the Associated Press.

Yeah it does (or would, if preliminary indications turn out ot be correct).

Actually, registering a 4 on the richter scale can be done with conventional bombs buried under ground fairly easily. Yes, it takes quite a bit (somewhere around 500 tonnes) but that is not really much of an accomplishment in today's world.

Honestly, I don't think they have the bomb yet but they thought if they detonated a large conventional bomb under ground and announced it as a nuke that people would assume it was.
