Bust Rhymes: The Big Bang

First my htoughts on Busta Rymes...

He was the energy rapper from The Leaders of the New School. Then he had hte breakout performance in ATCQs single "Scenario." That parlayed him into a pretty solid solo career for himself--and the demise of LotNS. It might be JMO but he puts out a good cd every other cd.

Here you go

96' The Coming: ONE GOOD SONG... Woo Hah!! Got You All In Check ..and form what I gather the rest of hte cd was garbage

97' (own) When Diaster Strikes: GREAT CD... TONS OF GOOD SONGS: Put Your Hands ..., Rymes Galor ( OMG the bass), Dangerous, and The Body Rock.

98' (own) E.L.E. : OK there are three REALLY GOOD SONGS on here, Gimme Some More, Iz They Wildin Wit Us & Gettin' Rowdy Wit Us?, and This Means War ( Great sample of Iron Man!!!). All other tracks were garbage!

00' Anarchy: I never heard anything good about this cd!! And I have never listened to it b/c of that. And the video he had for Fire... ehhhh

01' (own) Genesis: Great CD of his Loved Shut Em Down 2002 (cover of PE song), Pass the Courvisier, Break Ya Neck, Bounce, Waht It Is, and Match The Name With The Voice ..all have nice woofer workout beats.

02' It Aint Safe No More: AS soon as I heard Make It Clap I was like this cd isn't even worht my time..

NOW 4 years later Busta puts out this cd!!! Also left previous label to go to Dr. Dre's aftermath label.

THis cd is a solid follow up!

Get You Some!! Nice intro tubne w/ Q-Tip

Touch It kills you w/ Bass...also a really good song.

How We Do It Over Here f/ Missy Elliot: LOVE IT... definatley a Missy Elliot beat and Busta Rymes real good over it

New York SH** : ehhh a NY style beat but I don't care for the song.

Been Through the Storm: not that good IMO

In the Ghetto: a soul beat... but I don't like it

Cocaina: nice beat but I don't like the lyrics

You Can't hold the Torch. ok

Goldmine: I like this song...

I love my B****: like this sing...nice beat

Don't Get Carried Away: LOVE THE BEAT( it was tune from 2 Fast 2 Furious and I am sure its sample from someone elses song but I reckognize ot from the movie). Definately a standout track.

They're out to Get Me: ehhh don't like it... to much singing chorus for a BR tune

Get Down: don't like

I Do It All: Nice jazz flute inspired beat but I don't like the song

Legend of the Fall Offs: cool dark beat w/ the piano..but I wish the rhymes were better.

Overall I'd give this a 2.5 rating.... The stand out tracks really give it that extra .5* ....if this cd didn't have those I would rate it 2* or maybe lower. I htink Dr Dre really helped BR out on this.

Buyable if a Busta Fan.... Not sure if it would turn on new fans IMO. Its not a bad $10 cd.
it's amazing how our rap tastes differ. i agree that it was an average cd, but i hate most of the tracks that you like. I enjoyed "get you some" "cocaina" "goldmine" "don't get carried away" "they're out to get me" and "legend of the fall offs." But i loved "been through the storm". IMO, it's one of the best tracks of the year. Sha money XL laced an awesome beat, stevie wonder brings a great hook and Busta has awesome, storytelling. It was a great story of his parents life and his beginnings.

On the flip side, i completely hate:
touch it
how we do it over here
new york ****
in the ghetto
i love my bitch
get down
i'll do it all

i can't listen to those songs.

and well we did differ on Touch It, I love my b****, how we do it over here.

I guess some flks look for certian things in songs... beats, lyrtics, whatever.... everyone has different tastes and I am by no means any kind of AUTHORITY on all things musical.

I think each reader, if they have the same cd that is being reviewed, give their feelings on the cd...aka their own review. Nothing like diverse opinions to get the full scoop on how good a cd is.
