I really liked their first cd ... didn't think I would have at first listen to their initial single... but a guy at work let me borrow it... and I really got into it. Her vocals make that band. From what I gather the new cd should be as good.
They are one of the few NEW bands I actually like.
They are pretty much Linkin Park with a chick lead singer if you ask me. I read in your other thread that you dont like Linkin Park, weird.
I like Linkin Park so Evanescence is alright to me.
I've only listened to about 3 tracks so far....
IMO as good as their first cd.
FWIW, how come this in of the few groups to have WELL MASTERED AUDIO on their cd? The bass is nice and deep...guitars sound crisp, and the drums sound real good. And hte vocals sound really well also. I give amjor props to the audio engineers that produce their music and wish more bands would take the same care in presenting their sound.

...I don't know man... like I said I should like Linkin Park due to my tastes but I don't. I don't think Evanessesnce is anything like Linkin Park (unless new LP music is more rock than the rap/rock) found on Hybrid Theory).

I really can't review this cd on a track by track basis. Its basically a hot goth chick singing w/ haunting lyrics singing over hard rock beats w/ a little piano mixed in. THey have a little hip hop influence in the way that the beats are arranged so to speak.
I'd give this cd 3*s ..their first cd, Fallen, would have gotten 3.5*s If you like their current single then you will enjoy hte whole cd. And if the new single is the firt time you have heard this band then you ought to pick up their previous effort.
i've always thought this was a band for chicks. shows what i know about non-rap music.

Well they are ond of the few metal bands that have a female lead vocalist! She also has a great haunting voice...I'd almost say operatic voice. Its not like Vixen ( heh yeah I remember them) or The Donnas. Granted from what little I have heard from the Donnas they actually rock... same w/ say Joan Jett and the Blackhearts.
