Anyone have thoughts?
I actually think Tirico, Theisman, and Kornheiser are pretty good together. I don't like it not being on a broadcast network though.
And this MNF Double Header action kind of makes me wish they did more of them, granted tonight is 9/11.
Im pretty sure that the MNF double header is something they have been doing on opening weekend for a couple of years now. I like Kornheiser, he brings something a little different to the booth, almost like Dennis Miller a few years back, but not quite as over the top/weird.
People make a big deal about it, but really it doesnt matter that it is on cable instead of the broadcast television anymore, I think 85% of the population has cable or satellite television these days. MNF wasnt getting the ratings to warrant a primetime spot on network TV anymore, that is the bottom line.

I don't disagree with you on the [lack of] impact of the move to cable, but I'm pretty sure that MNF pulled a 12-15 share every broadcast and was one of the most watched programs of the week every week.
Maybe they started to turn it around with Madden and Michaels but back when they were changing the crew every season, that was one of the main reasons they were doing it, they werent satisfied with the ratings. Late in the season nobody wanted to see Green Bay play Baltimore, and that really is the problem with MNF, the schedules are made in advance and nobody knows what is going to be a good/important game late in the season. The move to ESPN is a good call, because you get more hardcore fans who are going to watch just because it is football, regardless of the matchup. You may be right about the ratings still being towards the top, but they will be able to get stronger ratings on ESPN.
