Yankees, 59-40
White Sox, 59-41, 0.5 GB
Twins, 59-41, 0.5 GB
Blue Jays, 56-44, 3.5 GB

This has to be one of the most intruiging races I can remember. You've got the Yankees who haven't missed the playoffs since '93, the defending World Series champs and the hottest team in the planet all within a game. And the Blue Jays just continue to hang around.

Who do you like? I'm tempted to say the Yankees will overtake the Red Sox, and Boston will take the Wild Card again, but it's hard to pick against the Twins the way they're playing.

As for the White Sox, I could see them going on a huge run, or I could see them collapsing. It seemed unimaginable a couple of months ago, but I have to wonder if Ozzie is losing that clubhouse.
the dog days of summer aren't forgiving. I think, as a team, the red sox are insanely better than the yankees. I think the WC will come down to the white sox, Twins and Jays. Talent-wise the Jays are the worst of the 3, but when you look at their different parts, there's nothing that can really come down from a high, because the pitching and hitting haven't been awesome or bad all season. They'll have to make a deal if they want to stay in the race. The white sox need a reliever and at least one starter. It seems like their starters are starting to feel the effects of their heavy workload of the past. And the twins will probably have to make a deal too. I can see morneau and mauer continuing to do what they've done, but i doubt cuddyer and punto will stay this hot. and bartlett won't get a lot of game winning hots. But we do know one thing, sometimes two dominant pitchers are all you need.
