Got a new eMachines for a client. I'm very happy eMachines now uses integrated nVidia graphics on nearly all their machines, as nVidia provides terrific drivers for Linux (whereas ATI is a total suckbomb). He wants Linux, and is keeping a Win XP partition only as emergency backup.
Q: How long did it take Windows XP to crash?
A: The 5th screen of the setup wizard XP locked up and required a hard restart. Did this twice more before finally getting something done.

Actually, I got OpenSuSe Linux running on it, and it is *fast* and rock solid stable.
It's not the computer....
I got a PC i built with a left over CPU, no version of windows 98-XP will take on it. crashes (BSOD) durring installer.
memtest passes, and 3 types of linux install fine.
I have an HP and it's a friggin rock. No problems yet (knock on wood), awesome performance........I love it.
And it does so much.
And I bet the farm it came nothing close the price/performance of this eMachines.
