Game 1

Georgia Tech blows a 4-0 lead by giving up 8 runs to Clemson in the bottom of the 8th. Clemson wins 8-4 and advances to play the winner of UNC/CS-Fullerton. GT moves into the losers bracket and will face the loser of UNC/CS-Fullerton in the 1st elimination game of the tourney.
I'd like to see Rice bring a title back to CUSA.
Carolina won in a barn burner.
Game 3

Rice comes back to defeat Georgia. Rice's starter had a no-hitter going to the 7th, before giving up 4 runs. Rice answered with 4 in the bottom of the 7th to make it 6-4.

Game 4

Miami blows out Oregon State (who is now 0-5 all-time in the CWS) 11-1. Miami moves on in the winners bracket to face Rice, while Georgia and Oregon State will play an elimination game.
Game 5

CS-Fullerton rallies to eliminate #8 Georgia Tech 7-5. GT becomes the first team eliminated in the 2006 CWS. CS-Fullerton now awaits the loser of the UNC-Clemson game.
Georgia Tech when starters are pitching:
8-0

Georgia Tech when bullpen is pitching:
2(?) - 15
not the chicago white sox thread i was expecting ;-)
Game 6

In one of the best pitching performances I've seen in a long time, UNC shut out #1 Clemson 2-0 to advance to the championship game of bracket 1. UNC gets the luxury of not playing again until Wednesday when they play the winner of CS-Fullerton/Clemson.
One question, never really watched the CWS until the final games. It obviously double elim., does Clemson/CSF have to beat UNC twice to advance?

Yes. Check out the brackets here:

Game 13 is required if both teams have only one loss after game 11 (Same for 14 and 12).

ahh... the second bracket is much easier to read, I didn't even notice games 13 and 14 on the cwsomaha website. Thanks!
It's double elimination within your bracket, then you start all over. Whomever emerges from each bracket, regardless of losses plays two of three against the other bracket winner.

In other words, the ultimate loser could have as few as 2 losses if they reached the finals out of the winners bracket, but no more than three if they made the finals out of the losers bracket, and the ultimate winner could have as many as two losses, assuming they made the finals out of the losers bracket and went 2-1 in the finals.
I have to extend a big thanks to Tech for choking worse than Tulane did last year and in '01.
ESPN.com has a CWS gallery up.

By the way, what's with the poor under-arm black patch choice both Georgia and GT made? Any coincidence that they both went 0-2? ;-)
