he doesn't like wearing a helmet? too bad. I think the messiah of Pittsburgh should wear a damn helmet. was kellen winslow's accident not enough to scare him out of riding these death machines? to go off on a tangent, i'm sick of people riding these things, especially older people with families. When i was working at Nationwide insurance last summer, the life insurance agent told me a story about a new father (in his 30's) who recently died riding his motorcycle and left behind a wife and 2 kids. To top it all off, their policy was miniscule. I know Big Ben isn't a father (at least i don't think he is) but he about sets fire to a ton of money and an amazing career everytime he gets on that damn bike.
Yeah, that's about as stupid as it gets.

Glad it looks like he'll be all right, though.

yeah, thank god. i hope he learns a lesson.
If I was in his situation it would be a tough call...All that money you gotta spend it on something, and I know if I bought a brand new sport bike I sure as hell am gonna ride it. Not wearing a helmet is pretty dagone stupid but I can certainly understand why these guys like to ride. If I was his agent I would want to kick his ass for it though. There has to be a stipulation against riding in his contract and if he ends up seriously hurt and Pittsburgh voids his contract he will be out a heck of a lot of money. And I am all for players having their contracts voided in these situations. What is the point of having the provision in the contract if you arent going to stick to it when someone gets hurt?

c'mon we live in america. there's plenty of other ways to spend all that money.
Those bikes arent even all that expensive, If I somehow stumbled upon 15 million bones it would be one of the first things I would buy.
R.I.P. "chances of a Pittsburgh repeat"

Anybody know if Jake Delhomme likes to ride a motorcycle? If so, does he dare wear it w/o a helmet? Just curious.

it's not just the money though. he represents so much for so many people. would that 15 mil come with an amazing future? roethlisberger didn't just stumble upon that money. he worked hard for it.
My biggest thing is why the heck didn't he wear a helmet?! I mean how stupid can you get. Who cares if you like wearing a helmet or not?! If anything that little detail should void his contract especially if he's unable to play next year.....How can someone be so stupid?!
him riding a bike, I have no problem with. not wearing a helmut is totally different. something that dangerous-you should use basic safety equipment.
It's his life. He's earned the right to not wear a helmet, hell, we all have. Who are you to tell him, "wear a helmet." "But I'm a fan." Quite being selfish. If he wants to ignore all the recommendations so be it.

normaly i'd disagree with you. because someone who gets hurt on their bike without a helmit would normaly cost the state alot of money while they bring him back to life. but im sure Ben has some nice insurance and can pick up the rest himself in the event his insurance wont pay for him being a dumb***.

also, isnt it law to wear a helmit in PA? Only state i know if is SC that doesnt require it.
yup, hoping someone will use basic safety equipment so as to help avoid serious injury and death-VERY SELFISH OF YOU PEOPLE!

how is becomin a millionaire by playing a game earn the right for someone to take such a dumb*** and possiblity illegal thing? (like I said, the bike riding is ok, its the not wearin a helmut that is asanine)

there are somethings that one just should do-wear a helmut while riding a motorcycle, wearing a seatbelt, wearing a parachut while jumping out of a plane. they are very basic but can help protect life.

Surprisingly, in PA since 2003 it is not illegal to wear a helmet if you're liscensed and over the age of 21...they ammended the law so that basically if you were over 21 you didn't have to wear a helmet....

So I'm guessing if you're 21 you know you can't suffer manage injuries or I guess rather if you're 21 or older it's ok to be a dumba**....I swear some people and lawmakers are so stupid.
I wonder if he'd wear a helmet in the NFL if they said that it was optional...

Anyway, the no-helmet laws are stupid to the nth degree. Every state that has decided that helmets are optional saw an increase in motorcycle fatalities in the following years.

Then again, let them ride helmetless, but make sure that they don't breed first.

Well if it would make him feel free and liberated then he may not wear the helmet during games...apparently feeling free and liberated is more important than lifeor at least your head

* Dont get me wrong I love Rothelisberger but I mean this is just so stupid of him
does nobody have a problem with a person who has a family riding one?

if he wears a helmut and his family doesnt have a problem with it-why should I?
flyingswoosh Wrote:does nobody have a problem with a person who has a family riding one?

I figure everyone in my family is old enough to make the decision on their own whether or not to ride a motorcycle as long they will wear a helmet it's their life they don'tmake decisions for me I don't make any for them.
who cares, just because this guy plays pro football everyone is up in arms

why dont you go after the other 2 million who dont wear a helmet

I would go after them if I saw them...My biggest point is it should be a law in every state that you have to wear a helmet....I mean c'mon, you shouldn't give ANYONE the option to be stupid just because they want to be or at least not to a point. I really truly believe wearing a helmet should be law in every state and that the State of Pennsylvania was wrong in changing their law....

Rothelisberger was just made hte highlight cause yes he is famous so everyone will hear about him and his stupidity...and with Rothelisberger you're looking at someone very talented who set some records and such so it's gonna be all the bigger especially him being the QB of the Superbowl Champs but just b/c it's related directly to him doesn't mean that the same ideas would be brought to surface if some random local suffered injuries due to not wearing a helmet while riding in your area or my area or anyone elses area.
