A few days ago on a local radio sports talk show, the topic was best sports tradition. What's your favorite tradition? Ohio State "dotting the I"? Cameron crazies? NHL teams shaking hands at the end of a playoff series? I could go on and on.

Just curious.

I'll post mine later
the end of game handshake seems to be pretty much every sport at every level-atleast as long as I been watching.

being a Duke/ACC fan I lean toward college basketball tradition heavily.

Cameron Crazies chants (airball, ahh seeya, Go to Hell Carolina)
Krzyzewskiville
the Victory Bell
the banners hangin in the rafters
the retirment of numbers.

But you gotta admit, for as heated as a 7 game series can get between two teams in a full contact sport, to be able to suck it up and shake the others guy hand is pretty cool. I know I had a hard time doing it when I played. I can only imagine what players on the Sabres were thinking as they shook the Hurricanes players hands.

but it aint unique to hockey. think it's easy to shake after a tough loss in the NCAA Tournament, conference tournament, big rivalry regular season game, NBA game, high school football game, bowl game? its a great SPORTS tradition-not a HOCKEY tradition

But do you see networks with multiple cameras on the handshake? I've never seen MLB teams actually do it until 2 or 3 years ago when the Angels did it.

Yes, NFL, NBA, college teams, etc. do it, but I don't think it comes anywhere close to the tradition the NHL has in the handshake line.
Storming the court/field/ice after winning a championship is one of my favorites (except when my team is on the losing end).
Ignoring the huge amount of GT tradition I have to chose from for the sake of being unbias;

- Tearing down the goal posts after a major upset
- 12th Man
- Commander In Chief's Trophy

yeah and then its a 15 yarder. ;-) lmfao
FSU's tradition of taking sod from an away victory.

That's evil, but a damn impressive.
I'm a Cincinnati guy, but OSU's dotting of the "i" is the best tradition in my mind... the way the crowd gets excited to see that for every game is amazing. In fact, the crowd is always in their seats about 30 minutes before the game in order to see the band play the fight song before the game, including to the point that everyone sings the words...

During the "i dotting" the band isn't playing the fight song, they are playing the French National Defile, Le Regiment. Damn cool song, damn cool tradition, and I hate OSU.

Yep, but before they start off the whole "show" by playing the fight song, "Drive, drive on down the field" as they come out of the tunnel, and they get in formation and actually "drive" down the field. The whole pre-game is incredible, I have yet to see another school match it.
my fav sports tradition is:

the Duke/UNC gameday party. about 2/3's of my church and other friends come over to my house to watch The Game. been doin so since the late 80's. win or lose, it is just awesome.

I've never seen the dotting of the "i", but the Army-Navy March on is usually pretty awesome.

Alright, I don't get it.
I'll go with the Hockey hand shake after the playoff series.
Gotta go with the Fighting Irish Marching Band walking from the Joyce to the Stadium playing the victory march the entire way, then taking the field with the giant N-D that then moves up and down the field. Really an impressive sight.
Texas A&M's 12th Man. The only time the student body sits is when the opposing team's band plays at halftime. They stay the entire time and are loud all the way till the end. Also the "Ags score, you score" is pretty cool.
For those that have never seen it, including myself, here is Ohio State's pregame
