Quote:A year ago, Henry and Roma Gerbus took their computer to Best Buy in Springfield Township to have its hard drive replaced.

Henry Gerbus said Best Buy assured him the computer's old hard drive -- loaded with personal information -- would be destroyed.

"They said rest assured. They drill holes in it so it's useless," said Gerbus.

A few months ago, Gerbus got a phone call from a man in Chicago.

"He said, 'My name is Ed. I just bought your hard drive for $25 at a flea market in Chicago,'" said Gerbus. "I thought my world was coming down."

Gerbus and his wife had good reason to worry.

A total stranger had access to the couple's personal information, including
Social Security numbers, bank statements and investment records.
Yes Best Buy should be burned to the ground...but if the guy is having a HD replaced, he should take receipt of the old one. THen he can do what he pleases with it.

I'd throw it at oncoming traffic, or at a five year old during recess.

Puppies, kitties, and old ladies make good targets too.
Heh, I worked at that Best Buy when I was in high school. The manager at the time was a moron, although I highly doubt it is him now.
Looks like someone will now own a good chunk of Best Buy...
A person my dad does business with was trying to setup a home wireless network, they called geeksquad. 1000$ and many hours later, they had the most ghetto wireless network with the biggest POS router ever... and it still didnt even work..
me +1hour = everything works flawless.

their reason it didnt work:
geeksquad: "it doesnt work because u have virus, if you give us more money to do a 'deep OS scan' we can get it to work"
