the combo of the braves going 7-3 and the phillies going 3-7

plus the mets are trying to recover from the bad road trip and rotation problems

I like that trade for El Duque. Actually I don't like it as a Braves fan, but it's good for the Mets. He may be old, but he sure as heck beats Jose Lima. He and Soler could make the back of that rotation passable.

It will come down to the Braves and Mets in the East. Philly's way too yo-yoey. How many times have we seen them rip off 13 out of 14 only to follow it with a suicidal 1-9 homestand?

He's a Cuban defector. Numbers in Cuba compare pretty favorably to Jose Contreras.

exactly. if you guys don't recognize, minaya is being really smart here. he knows he only has to wait another couple months before someone gives him a really good pitcher in the last year of their contract. So, until then he's just getting guys who he figures will give him a couple good starts here and there. In other words, pitchers better than gonzalez and lima.
