I'm voting for Shelton Benjamin, primarily because the IC Champion has almost always been propelled to the main event to win the WWE Title.
Shelton will probably win the belt back, and move into main event status.
I think all questions will be answered before ECW One Night Stand. RVD will probably lose the title before One Night Stand, and that'll make the championship match against Cena decent, with a Cena heel turn coming shortly thereafter.

I liked Cena much better when he was a heel. It would be excellent if they turned him.
As for Shelton, I would love to see him as the World Champ, but the WWE has never had a totally black champion....

Shelton is absolutely nowhere near ready to carry Raw as the WWE Champion. He's got quite a ways to go before he can be considered a main event player. He's perfect right where he is right now, fighting for the IC belt.

The main event of ECW One Night Stand '06 will be John Cena versus Rob Van Dam for the WWE Title.
If you think John Cena gets some boos now, just you wait until they put him in front of a legit ECW crowd. Those people will be ready to literally murder him on the spot, and there may be someone insane enough to actually try to jump the rail and do it..lol
RVD will put on a five star ECW style performance, and he will be the man to finally take the belt off of John Cena. From there, things will start building full steam into SummerSlam, and HOPEFULLY, Edge will be the one to challenge RVD for the title.
Edge is a legitimate main event player, and he deserved a LOT more than that little two week run he got with the belt in January. I hope Edge wins the title at SummerSlam and carries it into WrestleMania next year.

I could very well see what you say happening.
I disagree on RVD. If Shelton isn't a big event player than neither is RVD. He may have been able to carry ECW, but he is not WWE main event material.
You are right on about Edge though. He has really grown from doing the 5 second pose to being the Rated R Superstar, he has improved and deserved to carry the strap for longer than he was allowed to.

The thing is though...RVD is HUGE over with the crowd, but his mic skills are pathetic. He's already got a guaranteed World title shot. Did you see that staredown between RVD and Cena this past Monday? That was planting the seeds for One Night Stand. Whenever he (RVD) cashes his title shot in, and IF he does win the belt, that's where it will happen. He'll win it just to make for a magical moment on that one night in the ECW Arena, and he'll hold onto it just for a couple months at the most. One Night Stand is in June, and SummerSlam is two months later. Him and Edge will absolutely tear the house down at SS, but the Rated R Superstar will come out with the belt, and get the long title reign that he's overdue for.
And I absolutely agree about Triple H, but think about it though. He's gotten a few shots, but he hasn't been the champion in almost 14 months. If he doesn't get another shot until WrestleMania 23, he will have gone without the title for 2 years, and meanwhile, guys like Cena, Edge, and RVD will have all gotten runs with the belt.
I don't know if it's been officially announced yet, but Triple H v. Cena will happen on Raw this Monday for the title, but I don't believe he'll win it. WWE is getting ready to pair him back up with HBK to reform DX, and they don't need the WWE title to prove that they're on top.
Then again....Hunter could win the belt on Monday, and make me look like a total idiot..so what do I know.. lmfao
