i thought since we have a lot of people contributing on here, it'd be a good time to bring back trivia. i think these rules should suffice:
1) i'll ask the first question, and then the person who gets it right asks the next one, and so on.
2) a question will last for 24 hours. if nobody can get it, then the questioner will post the answer and ask another one. if someone gets it right before the time is up, the questioner can can tell him he's correct and that person can start his 24 hour question period whenever he wants.
3) each person only gets 2 guesses/question. it would be nice if everyone abided by this.
4) NO LOOKING UP THE ANSWER ONLINE- if you can't figure it out from your own knowledge, then give up.
just a suggestion: i think the questions should be more based in the modern era and often times in the last 20 years, since most of us aren't very old. obviously it's cool if a 1930's player is in the same answer with 21st century players.
it would also be cool if the questioner made up his own, instead of using one he found online, but it's not a big deal.
lastly, we don't need to have a point system. if you get one right, you can take the bragging rights or i guess it'd be cool to put it in your sig.
ok, here we go at 9:15.
Who are the only 4 players in MLB history to hit at least 200 HR's with 2 different teams? ex. 200 with one team and 200 with another, if anyone was confused.

Manny Ramirez, Mark McGwire, Frank Robinson and Rafael Palmeiro??
Manny, McGwire, Palmeiro, Jimmie Foxx? Foxx seems like a reach, but he may have hit 200 in Boston.

close
Manny, McGwire, Palmeiro and Reggie Jackson??
Only one I am iffy on is Reggie Jackson.
Guess I missed it.
I was going to guess Jackson, too. I can't think of anyone else.
i have no problem giving a hint. the guy is from a long time ago and was righthanded. way before jackson and robinson.
You've stumped me. Foxx is the only really old guy I could think of who possibly did it, but I guess not.

yup. you got it.
JFlight21 Wrote:When is the next trivia?
whenever gdawgs asks one. you can ask one if you want. this is not a competition, it's just for fun.
Which pitcher holds the record for most strikeouts in a world series and in what year was it?

Sorry, I overlooked that part of the rules. I was waiting on you to ask another. My bad.
JFlight21 Wrote:Which pitcher holds the record for most strikeouts in a world series and in what year was it?
That's a good one.
Um...Randy Johnson in 2001?

I have no idea but I'll take a guess......Sean Casey. That was one slow mofo.
Nope. Think great non-Hall of Famer.
i'll go. name the 5 pitchers who started at least 21 games for the 1998 yankee team that won 114 games?
That's a good one.
Boomer Wells, El Duque, David Cone, Andy Pettitte, Hideki Irabu?
GDawgs88 Wrote:That's a good one.

How old are you guys?? I am almost 16 now, so I was 8 during 1998. No chance I could remember Hideki Irabu.

I'm 17, but I've been watching baseball for as long as I can remember. I remember the '98 Yankees very well. Best team I'll probably ever see.
I'm going out of town tomorrow for a few days, so I won't ask a question since I probably won't be able to follow up on it. So someone else can ask one instead.
i'll try to come up with one tonight
Name the last 5 #1 draft picks..
JFlight21 Wrote:Name the last 5 #1 draft picks..
nice one. i can only remember 3, let's hope i can think of the other two.
damn, i got 4 outta 5. obviously i'm not gonna post them. that damn pick threw me off, in fact i wasn't even close on that one.
I don't know either.....here is my guess (I didn't look it up)
Justin Upton, Delmon Young, Joe Mauer, Bryan Bullington and the shortstop for the padres, his name escapes me.
Now I remember the padre, something Bush.
nice one. it's matt bush. that was the one that was eluding me. didn't you just ask and answer your own question?
flyingswoosh Wrote:nice one. it's matt bush. that was the one that was eluding me. didn't you just ask and answer your own question?
I had didn't know the answer and since I figured it would only be us doing the trivia while GDwags, I decided to give it a shot.
Matt Brush is probaly the worst first overall pick in recent memory. You don't take a kid #1 overall because of his glove.

yeah, that's what i figured. what happened to the others?
JFlight21 Wrote:Matt Brush is probaly the worst first overall pick in recent memory. You don't take a kid #1 overall because of his glove.
as i recall, the pads couldn't afford the other guy.

They were down to Jeff Neimann, Stephen Drew and Matt Bush. They couldn't afford Drew. They should have taken Neimann at least he offers some potential.

yeah, drew. that's who i was talking about. he's been awesome. he's already at AAA and hitting pretty damn well.
who are the 4 players who have gone 300/300 in their careers? (HR, SB)
Barry Bonds, Bobby Bonds, Willie Mays, Eric Davis??
JFlight21 Wrote:Barry Bonds, Bobby Bonds, Willie Mays, Eric Davis??
close. remember, you get one more guess.
