i was thinking today about all the amazing players our generation has seen and will see. i mean our era is truly historic:

Rivera- best closer ever
Bonds- one of the best hitters ever
maddux and clemens
A-rod
Pujols- could end up being the best hitter ever with 3,000 hits and 700 HR's
Randy Johnson
Pedro
Piazza might be the best hitting catcher ever
I guess i could say griffey, but i never really watched him during his great years, i was a little young
I agree. Sometimes we take for granted that we've been lucky enough to see guys like Bonds, Pujols, Maddux and Clemens play. My dislike for Bonds is well documented, but I'll still always get to say I got to see him hit No. 71, No. 661, No. 715 and No. 756 (if he does get there). We're lucky to have that chance.
so would you still count the McGwire-Sosa home run chase for 60 as past of this historic era? or do you consider their records too tainted to be counted in?

oh, i forgot that. good point. that chase was amazing. i don't consider anything tainted until i see murder weapon-type proof.
I think you could add Andruw Jones and Griffey. They pretty much have re-defined the role of the Center Fielder, as a key defensive position. I know there were some great center fielders before their time, but I think you could argue that point.

i disagree with andruw. i mean he's an awesome player and if he continues doing what he's doing right now for the next 7 years, he will definitely be HOF'er. but i don't think they've re-defined the role. it's always been a key defensive position. andruw just does it as well as any player in history, except one.
