he deserves it. i';ve heard he's a bit of a hothead. in fact i read that he's already become like Bonds used ot be and has decided not to speak to the media. he needs to get fined and suspended and needs to learn that this kind of behavior is detrimental to everyone. If we wanted MLB to be the NHL we would move all baseball games to WE (women's entertainment) or PAX.

This kid must think he can get away with anything since most people probably kiss his arse on a daily basis.
I hope they hammer him and he learns that you have to follow rules in life no matter how big you may think you are.

i agree. at the ballpark he never talks to any of us on the staff. Upton is the opposite. he'll come up to the booth and talk for a little bit and watch his highlights from the day before. Also, during the game he'll chat it up with one of us on camera. but young doesn't bother with anyone. that's fine if you're an all star, but this kid hasn't even made the show.

now that i;ve given it more thought, i think i'd fine him 50 grand and suspend him for the season. it's one thing to act like an a s s to the media like bonds, but bonds never disrespected the game or the people in it. ok, he does those damn home run trots, but even pujols flips his bat and walks on HR's.

I just saw the video clip on PTI and I agree with you 100%. Delmon Young is a jackass, from his bitching after he wasn't brought up last year and now this. I wish Tampa would make a stand and release that loser, which I know won't happen.

i still don't know if he threw the bat at the ump, or if he tossed it and it hit him. i've seen the video clip and listened to a radio clip and it's still not clear. either way i stand by what i said.

Maybe he just flipped it behind his back and it hit the umpire accidentally. I doubt it, though, since I haven't seen Young say that's what happened.

yeah, i know. buster olney said that the bat was obviously thrown, because of the speed it was traveling. but i don't necessarily agree. young is a big boy. he could've flipped it behind his back with a lot of force. he's defnitely strong enough.

What makes it kind of suspicious is that Young has his back turned to the umpire as he walks away, and the bat comes flying at the umpire like, less than a second after he's off the camera. Just seems like it would take longer than that to turn around, set and aim for the umpire, and throw. Just speculation on my part, though.

yeah. regardless of all this, i still say he should be suspended for the season.

I said 50 games at first, but I wouldn't have a problem with the entire season.
