would someone care to tell me what's wrong with them? none of the starters have pitched a good game. none have gone more than 5 innings and none have given up less than 3 ER. i'm guessing that when you're going bad, it's not very comforting to see mcdowell walking out towards you. do they miss leo? or is this just a funk?
well, the braves pitching, specifically reitsma, blew it again. 2 runs in the bottom of the ninth. damn, the braves pitching really sucks.
BTW, 2 players on the braves who are prime candidates to be sent down to richmond: franceour and devine. they look lost. especially devine.

I saw the Braves Giants highlights from Satirday's game and Devine looked awful. He had 3-4 pitches that weren't even close to the strike zone.
On Franceur, in the SI baseball preview one of the writers predicted Jeff F would struggle because in the last month and a half of last year he hit around .190 with a lot of strikeouts and very few walks.

yeah, devine had many pitches that weren't even in the same zip code. as for franceour, that's happened to a lot of guys, it's no reason to worry. willie mccovey did the same thing.
DivineForOpposingBatters is a headcase. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up going the way of Mark Wohlers. The kid is clearly scarred. Sad to see so early in his career.
Francoeur is going through some growing pains, which I expected. I doubt he'll get sent down to Richmond because he's too talented and he hit so well last year, but I expect his playing time to be sliced when Kelly Johnson comes off the DL.
Jeff's just got to make the adjustments. He should be able to if he's going to be the star we all expect.
As far as our pitching in general, I'm completely at a loss for how bad they've been. Actually, the bullpen has all right, save for Reeksma who's been as awful a closer as advertised. It's the rotation that's been scary. We were already pretty shaky after Smoltz and Hudson coming into the year. If Hudson continues to get rocked like he has his first two starts we're in a world of hurt. Sosa's '05 season was clearly a fluke and Homeracio is absolutely atrocious.
As for whether or not we miss Leo, I'd wait and see. I don't know if the pitchers miss his gruff personality, but the man got results. To not expect some dropoff might be unreasonable.
The Braves always seem to find a way. I'll be very interested to see how Bobby does it this year, because his work is cut out for him, that's for damn sure.
For some reason our bullpen sucks!! Our starters are doing well, but the releif pitching is atrocious..Looking for them to make a move, quickly I hope!!

who?
wtf is everyone talking about? is the new guy an orioles fan?
It will be interesting to see how the Astros starting pitching holds up with the loss of Backe. They are running Buchholz and Nieve, both rookies, as the number 4 and 5 starters for the time being.
On the upside, the stros are 3-2 on the road so far which is already better than they were at the end of May last year
