OK; here's what I can for sure bring:

- Linksys 4-port wired router
- at least 2 small to medium runs of CAT5 ethernet cable for said router
- CDs of distros .... but I am unsure which to bring and how much of each to bring
- My desktop ("Xion") for demonstration of the more special things linux can do.
--- Pentium IV 2.8 Ghz (800 Mhz FSB)
--- Asus P4P800 Motherboard (ICH5R chipset)
--- 250 GB Seagate Barracuda HD
--- 120 GB WD Caviar HD
--- eVGA nVidia GeForce 6600 GT
--- Sound Blaster Audigy MP3+
--- Hauppauge PVR-250
--- Juster stereo speakers with subwoofer and two satellites
--- 19" Viewsonic CRT Monitor
--- Pioneer 106D DVD/CD burner
--- Linksys WUSB11 wifi adapter; since I have a CSE acct this means I can have wifi to look things up etc ... grab drivers... blah blah

A few of the special things I can demonstrate with that desktop:
- MythTV
- Running Doom III at outrageously high graphics quality (over 500 MB of video textures) very quickly
- Translucency (aka transparent windows)
- Gentoo's portage software manager

I also *hope* to have a replacement older Thinkpad laptop by that time
Additional hardware I have laying around, in case it could be of use somehow:

- Seagate 40 GB IDE HD (5400 RPM?)
- PCI Sound Blaster Live! card
- OLD ATI AGP card (2x?)
- Albatron nVidia GeForce 5200 FX
- PCI Firewire card
- 350W power supply
- 512 MB Corsair XMS3200 PC3200 DDR
- A case with Asus P4P800 mobo; 2nd RAM leader is toast in it though
- PCtel 56K PCI card
- 3 or 4 sets of speakers
- Phone line... more than you can shake a stick at
- 3 or more old 2-button Compaq mice
- 3com based PCI ethernet adapter
- I think I have a Riva TNT2 gfx card around; but can't immediately find it
- Two fairly old 15" CRT monitors -- I think one can't do over 800x600

I think the above is enough to build a computer if somebody has a Socket 478 Pentium IV.

I also have a full system circa late Windows 95 that I can bring and use as an install box; as I planned on installing Linux on it and giving it my niece anyway. I believe it's a Celeron or PII.

i can also bring in my gentoo system for a live demo
All this lan-ing up had me thinking... some LAN game action while we're at it?

I have Doom III, Enemy Territory, Enemy Territory True Combat, Unreal Tournament 2004 (Demo), America's Army ... anybody think they'd be up for LAN matches in these?
heh - I can destroy you all.

At Tetris.

Anything else... not so much. :)
im up for a lan party
I just realized; something else we'll probably need is power strips and short runs of heavy duty extension cord.
q4 works on linux
and unrealtournament '99 (still the best)
I will have a set of Fedora Core 4 x86 discs for installing on the circa-win95 box I mentioned in my first post on this thread. I will also bring some CD-RW discs so I can fetch the ISOs using the fast University network then burn them as needed.
Just checked my mailbox after the meeting -- my shipment of Ubuntu CDs has arrived.... 20 x86 .... 3 x86_64 .... 2 PPC
