Can you remember a year with so much good young starting pitching prospects? I look around the league and I see guys like King Felix, Matt Cain, Justin Verlander, Brandon McCarthy Francisco Liriano, Yusmeiro Petit, Jonathan Papbelbon, Fernando Cabrera and many more. As a big fan of great pitching, it's just awesome to see.
it is great to see. baseball has so many star players that are really young. it's just astounding. the new generation of super stars began a few years ago and hasn't stopped. i mean my dad grew up with the greats like mays and aaron. i was wondering what players our generation will tell our kids about, and the first one is pujols. barring a catastrophe, he will go down as one of the greatest hitters ever. same with Arod, except arod was also one of the better fielding SS of all time. now that one of the best starters of all time is retiring (Clemens) i wonder what pitcher will step up from this group. obviously, king felix is the first one to come to mind.
The thing that sticks out to me with this group of young pitchers is that there are a lot of them that I think have the chance to be outstanding, Cy Young-type pitchers for a long time. Not just solid careers. I could see King Felix and Cain competing for Cy Young's within the next two or three years. Ditto for guys like Verlander and Liriano. Of course there will always be guys who flop, but I think we're looking at some guys just getting started who are going to have phenomenal careers.

I've always wanted to get down to Florida for a Braves spring training game. Braves baseball in March in Florida...are you kidding me? I might make a trip down there some time.

nah, not kidding. i'll be down there for the world baseball classic from march 7-10, and on two of those days there is only one game (each day), so to fill the time, my dad got tix to a braves game and a blue jays game.
