Jim Caple had an article on espn.com today about Albert Belle and the Hall of Fame. Do you think he is a hall of famer?

I think he is, for about 5 years he was probably the most feared hitters in the game. Had he been able to play for another 5 years he would have reached 500 homers. He thrived in the juiced ball era, and definitley had a bad attitude but there is no denying his abilities.

Most people would say no without even thinking but if you forget about all the bad stuff and look at the numbers, this guy was something else.
That's a tough call, Terpy. Was he great for a long period of time? No. Was he great for a stretch? Yes. In fact he was downright scary for a stretch. But it's tough to say if he deserves to be in or not. Should his bad behavior cost him anything? Again, just a really tough call.
I do not think he should be in. I think the type of person you are should be considered in the HOF. Why should a crappy person be immortalized in the HOF? It does not make sense to me.

Joey, I mean Albert was one of the best in the game for about 5 years, but 5 years does not get you in the hall. If he would of played at that level for another 5-8 years than I think he would have a chance.

Then you've got to take about half of the players in there already...
An injury cut his career short. If it wasnt for the hip injury I for one, would assume he would of had atleast another 5 very productive seasons. Kirby Puckett is the comparison to be made here.
Love him or hate him, Albert in his prime was probably one of the most feared hitters in baseball. His stats are impressive so I think he deserves to be in. Of course, being an Indians fan, I am a bit biased.
