What can be done to shorten the URL's that people are posting in the threads. They blow the sides off of the board.
Is there some code that can be used to shorten the url or change it? Maybe add a title to it that is shorter that the crap that is showing up now?
Just a question.
What's so long about the URL?
(domain)/(forums)/(conference)/phpbb/
I'm anal retentive as hell about organizing files, so I'm a bit shocked somebody finds fault with the folder system.
There's also subdomains:
rice.ncaabbs.com
etc.

No, no, no I am talking about links that people post in their threads. Those are the URL's that I am talking about.

You don't see what? The URL or how to do it? If b, the instructions on how to do so are given if you
'hover' over the URL button in the post window
[code:1]IT'S COMING[/code:1]
IT'S COMING

The problem is that the URL button puts
[code:1]
'' that one closes via close tag with ''
[/code:1]
Since the previous bb software used javascript dialogs to get the URL ( http://...)
and then as for the link text ( title)
so people are hitting the URL button pasting the URL then hitting close tag.
Most probably don't know to put the =URL inside the tag block (between the square braces. )
