The University of Virginia women's rowing
team's first varsity eight is the Atlantic Coast Conference Crew of the
Week for its performance at the ACC/Big Ten Double Dual Regatta on
Belleville Lake in Belleville, Mich., last Saturday (March 30).

Virginia's first varsity eight split two races in last Saturday's
competition. UVa defeated Michigan 7:17.3 - 7:18.0 in the afternoon
session after losing to Ohio State 7:06.0 - 7:10.3 in the morning. Last
year, Michigan's first varsity eight defeated Virginia's first varsity eight
6:32.6 - 6:40.8 in the ACC/Big Ten Double Dual Regatta. Michigan's
first varsity eight finished third at the 2001 NCAA Championships.

The Cavaliers' first varsity eight at last Saturday's competition was
comprised of coxswain Sarah Brennan, Jennifer Reck, Madeline Engel,
Molly Baker, Meg Van Dam, Jenny Sherman, Lauren Mitterer, Carolyn
McMillan and Amanda Kennedy.

The Virginia women's rowing team returns to action this weekend
(April 6-7) at the San Diego Crew Classic in San Diego, Calif.
