I think the 'Skins did a great thing by not trading up to get Harrington.. PATRICK RAMSEY was the 'Skins second chioce for QB in this draft they traded down twice went from 7 picks to 10 and still got one of thier top targets..
Great job by the team not to panick and mortgage the future on a guy just because we had said we wanted him...
Now how will all this translate into wins and loses well that could take two years to know...But I like the patients the team showed in this draft not shooting from the hip in a reactionary mode...
Hail to the Redskins...
I was extremely disapointed in the Redskins draft. We came into the draft needing a QB and a defensivelinemen. Patrick Ramsey may turn out to be a good QB but we did nothing to fix the problem on the D-line. Our great linebackers and corners arent worth anything in Marvin Lewis' system unless wew have a strong D-line and ours is weak. Bruce Smith is too old, Marco Coleman is getting too old, Big Daddy Wilkinson sucks and I have no idea who the other tackle is. What the heck are we going to do with all of those 7th round selections? They are pretty much worthless practice squad players. All we needed out of this draft was a QB and a DE. I guess we got half of what we needed but I would have gladly traded the rest of our draft to move up in the second round and take Kalimba Edwards. Daniel Snyder sucks. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="mad-flaming.gif" />
skins definitely needed to add some d. line, and they could have probably dropped a few more spots in the draft to get ramsey, although the bills may have been waiting to snatch him up. i guess my biggest problem was taking the RB in the second round. if there was one spot on this team that we did NOT need help, it was rb. i did like this line from the espn grades though: "His coach may not want to start quarterback Patrick Ramsey (No. 1) but, once he sees him throw, he'll change his mind. He can throw harder underhand than Danny Wuerffel can overhand on his best day."
As a giant fan I am relatively happy with the draft. I think Shockey will be a good TE for us. We need as many pass catching threats as we can get. I think the draft made the giants faster. They also picked players who've excelled in Special teams, so they can probably help immediately.
My major dissapointment with this draft is that they only drafted 1 OL. Jeff Hatch from Penn in the 3rd round. He looks like a bit of a project to me. The giants have major holes in their offensive line. The only positions they have reliable players returning at are Center and Right Tackle. So, this could be a long season coming up.
With the Age of Vincent and the huge contract of BT coming up, the Eagles draft DBs with the first 3 picks. Lito Sheppard(UF) and Michael Lewis(Col) will play immediately. Sheldon Brown (USCar)i'm kinda shaking my head, but with the 4-5 WR set we'll see from the Rams and the SOS Skins, it makes sense. Sheppard particully was a good pick because he played for Spurrier, and SOS himself called Lito "the best player at UF this year".
I really like Scott Peter, because he's a mauler and he'll provide Fraley some competition. Freddie Milons was an interesting pick. Peter Warrick Clone maybe. Brian Westbrook was all world at Villanova, but that was Villanova, so we'll see how he does at mini/training camp.
The last 2 picks IMO were actually good players. Tyreo Harrison was a MLB at ND. He'll compete for the spot Trotter left with Barry Gardner and Quinton Cavar. Gardner wins that battle, but a little traing camp squabble isn't bad. 7th round Raheem Brock from Temple I've seen in the 4th-5th round on some mocks. Good frame and developmental prospect.

But we do have some cap issues that 7th rounders can be brought in for the rookie league minimum and count as next to nothing on the cap...
What is the deal with all your negativity towards Danny???
I'll never understand some people when it comes to him. Everyone thinks The Squire was such a great man... Think about it-it was a different time in the NFL then no cap and no free agency...
Plus the beloved "Squire" screwed many players by flatout telling them don't come back forcing them to wear other teams jerseys for the final year(s) of their careers...
Danny has only owned the team for 3 years.. I wonder how much every loved the "Squire" when he first came to town???
The guy is 34 and a billionaire and I think that is where most peoples hositility towards him comes from...
Some will use the excuse that he fired all these life long employees but thnk about it if you bought a company that was family run such as the 'Skins were and had a heated court battle over the sale of the team then you would be leary of the amount of employee loyality and want to get your own people in there..
Say what you want abotu him but I wouldn't want any other owner then him because he is willing to spend money and admit when he is wrong....
Year 1 people said he was too involved...
Year 2 people said he wasn't involved enough...
Can't have it both ways folks either you want him involved or not but for my money I'll take an involved owner because that shows they care. The Squire was very involved a lot more than people want to remember...
Most folks only remember the good things about someone that is what is happening with Cooke...
I'm just saying cut the guy some slack and enjoy the fact that we now have 3 LB with 8 Pro Bowls between them because our owner is willing to spend the money..
Same thing with Deion... I was not really happy with his signing but thought it was good for no other reason then to keep him from being on the other side of the ball where he killed repeatedly...
Hail to the Redskins...
Terpy I have no idea how old you are btu I'm willing to guess that I've been watching the 'Skins play a lot longer than you have and I have lived throught hte losing ways of this teams weak past...
There is no such thing as someone BORN to be a Sports team owner the Squire started out sellnig Newspapers door to door and built fromt ehre and made all of his money in Real Estate and Newspapers before buying the Redskins...Which included owning/building The Forum in LA..
He had to learn the ropes as well...
one other note...unless they honestly feel that ramsey is a franchise qb (i haven't seen him enough to be able to say), i would have preferred they had taken that guard with their pick, even after they traded down the first time he was still there.
If we had cap issues why pay big bucks for Armstead and Trotter? Armstead is a bit over the hill and our linebacker corps was pretty good last year if it aint broke dont fix it, especially if it forces you to trade all of your picks away for 7th rounders that will never play. Antonio Pierce showed alot of promise at linebacker last season and now he is forced so far down the depth chart that he will rarely see playing time. I would much rather have used money to draft a defensive end than wasted it on a guy like Armstead who is nearing the end of his career. I could be wrong but isnt there questions about Trotter's knees too? I dont like Daniel Snyder because he is a head case this team would have been on its way to the playoffs this season if Marty was still here but now we have to start all over again with Spurrier. At the end of last season I was very optimistic about next year now much of that optimism has left with Schotenheimer. I just hope that Spurrier learns early on that his run and gun gator offense isnt going to work here and if he wants to win he has to give the opponents a steady dose of Stephen Davis.
OK Terpy two quick things then off to training for me...
Schotty might have gotten us to the playoffs (which I doubt) but he would have never won us the big one....
Spurrier won the ACC Championship at Duke to me that speak volumes over anything he did at Florida.
He was also a great NFL player in his own right so he understands the game from a player prospective as well as being a great coach...
Jimmy Johnson made the trasition easily I expect Spurrier will as well..
He will use his running back when needed...
He threw the ball so well he didn't have to at Florida he will modify things but look for the same basic system with the Redskins...
Most people are comparing it to the Rams O...
Seems Faulk has done quite well in it....
Name a player int eh NFL who has played for more than 5 seasons that doesn't have questions about their knees...
Terry Allen comes to mind in this case everyone said we were crazy for picking him up....
1)Marco Coleman(Played For Tech in Championship Season)
2)Brett Farve
3)Bob Whitfield
4)Shawn Jefferson
5)Raghib Ishmail
6)Joey Galloway
7)Qaudry Ishmail

He blew out his ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament)
A band of fibrous tissue that connects bones or cartilages, serving to support and strengthen joints
Uhhh That would be located in your KNEE
Please get real if you could ask any of them about their knees they would tell you they all have knee problems...

I like getting 2 new Ot's. Since we cut Brockermeyer we only had a 2nd year guy there & he's more of a guard/center. Mark Colombo is 6'8" 325. Terrance Metcalf is 6'4" 313. They say they both have bad attitudes on the field. That goes great with our center's (Olin Kreutz)attitude.
We picked up Roosevelt Williams, CB,Tuskegee in the 3rd. They say he was blowin dudes up at the East-West game. Hopefully he can contribute in dime d. & on kickoffs.
Then, DE Alex Brown Fla. in the 4th. There's some question about his work ethic, but in his post draft interviews,he brought up a good point, how could he be the all time SEC sack leader & take plays off? So if he works as hard as he says he's going to, I think we may have gotten the deal of the draft with him. Or, at least a very good deal getting him in the 4th.
The rest of the guys are "projects" & depth. maybe a special teamer or 2.
Oh, we also picked up **** Butkus' nephew, Luke. Center from Ill. We signed him as an undrafted free agent. If anything, I think he may make the practice squad. Our O line is full.
