Bears sign Chandler
Chandler
After weeks of negotiations, the Bears on April 12 signed Chris Chandler as a backup quarterback Jim Miller. What had been holding up the three-year deal for weeks was trying to settle on a contract number better than what most backups make. The deal came together Friday when the Bears agreed to give him a three-year contract at $4.5 million that included at $1.25 million signing bonus. The final selling points for Chandler were escalator clauses that, based on playing time, could increase the value of the contract to $7.8 million.
My guess is that to get the 7.8 Million he'd have to be the starter for 3 years, which I doubt will be the case. Also, 1.25 million signing bonus is very easy on the cap.
Angelo overspent to re-sign Olin Kruetz, but other than that he's not overpa <img border="0" alt="[NoNo]" title="" src="graemlins/nono.gif" /> ying.
