NCAAbbs

Folks, during the challenge yesterday I did something which in hindsight was tremendously stupid. I deleted a post made by JD Heel. I thought this was a harmless prank and even "called my shot" on an earlier post(which I later deleted) in the challenge thread.

I am sorry I interfered with something you all were working so tirelessly at and give you my word I will not do so again.

I logged into one person's name without permission. For that, I apologize. I was also logged in as NavyDoc, but with permission.

My administrative priviledges have been revoked, and I am asking for my moderator status to be removed as well.

For the time being, I need to look at what's on the table and decide whether or not the time invested in NCAAbbs would be better invested in other websites that I have received offers/contacts from in my area.

I will finish doing the front page at NCAAbbs and then I am taking time away from the boards until further notice and consideration of the other things at hand.

I need to do what's best from me, and that needs to take into consideration this site, the standards and beliefs of this site, as well as the potential needs and standards of others.

Alex, If you would like to close my server/ftp accounts, I will let you know as soon as I am done with the main page.

I really hope we don't lose you over this, GTS. I'm confident that what happened was not done maliciously, which I see as a big factor here. You did not crash the server or anything like that. You simply interrupted a game that many others had interrupted before then already.

I hope you'll reconsider....

I am astonished you would say that. More than likely, this place would not be here right now if it wasn't for GTS. There is a huge hole to fill. He, Drunkterp and TurtleProtector do almost all (I'm not forgetting you LT <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="smile.gif" /> ) the computer related stuff around here. He also adds insight with most of his posts.

Lucy, we've been getting along recently and I don't want to throw that away, but I really think your post is out of line.

GTS did more for this site than 99.99% of the posters here. He did have a major brain fart, abused his power in a serious way, admitted so and has faced the music like a man. This is certainly a big hole in the community because now we are going to be short one programmer who put in countless hours improving ACCbbs. We do not presently have anyone to fill the demand we have for his skills.

In the past we have had issues with an administrator who pissed people off because he wasn't accountable enough for his actions, and who took a couple epic thrashings at the hands of fellow posters. This time we have one who is accountable and has even volunteered to finish the work he started on the front page.

As a community we couldn't have asked for anything more out of GTS given the situation he put himself in.

I ask that in spite of his erroneous abuse of power that we either show him some respect as he departs, or we allow him to go quietly.

Lucy, sometimes you really make me sick. If you don't support GTS, that's fine. I guess that means you don't support NCAAbbs, either, because he is an essential part of this community.

There's no need to let this tear the board apart. GTS will take some time away and hopefully come back refreshed and with a better understanding of how to contribute here.

If he decides to stay away, then I'll be disappointed, but I'll wish him the best.

Let's not let it turn the board to chaos in the meantime....

He did more "underground" technical work for this place
to keep it updated and running smoothly than any of us (excluding the admins) ever thought about doing.

Hopefully after some time away, he'll reconsider and come back to us. <img border="0" alt="[Cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/cheers.gif" />

Swagger, I for one appreciate everything you did. I wish I had the time to spend on improving the boards that you did. You are one poster I am 100% certain was only interested in making ACCbbs a better place, and I commend you for that.

I think everyone on this board should be aware that GTS did not have administrative access until recently. He earned it through the work he did on the board.
