The greatest sports event in the world is upon us all. Starting Friday the 31st of May, the World Cup 2002 will be underway. This challenge will affect your NCAABBS Cup standings so even if you don't know the first thing about soccer, it's worth taking a chance at it, and who knows, you might do better than you think.
Here's how the challenge works, there are 8 starting groups(A-H) with 4 teams each. The top two teams advance in each group from a round-robin style(every team plays each other) first round. From then on, the winners of each round are determined just like the sweet 16 and on in the NCAA Basketball Championship.
What you'll do is pick the two teams you want to advance per group, the group winner, and the group runner-up. Then following the directions as to which groups play-off, pick the winners of the subsequent games.
Scoring is as follows:
First Round: 10 points per team correctly picked(160 points possible)
Second Round: 20 points per team correctly picked(160 points possible)
Quarterfinals: 35 points per team correctly picked(140 points possible)
Semi-Finals: 65 points per team correctly picked(130 points possible)
Consolation Match: 100 points if winner is picked
Final Match: 150 points if winner is predicted(just becuase it's special)
Perfect Bracket=840 points
