Clemson has everyone beat on size.
But BDS@HGF has history and atmosphere like no other. Also, the beautiful Atlanta skyline on night games is a must see.

Clemson has Florida State beat by about 3,000
seats...However, Clemson also has Section D!!!!
One ramp and a 60 row climb to the top, after you
come out of that ramp...FORGET IT!

The sheer size of Memorial Stadium should put it in the top three stadiums in the ACC. When you add that to the fact that it is in the middle of nowhere, you could drive forever and not see anything and then all of the sudden this huge stadium just pops up and when you fill it up with tens of thousands of Clemson fans it's just amazing.
And for anyone that has ever been on the field, it just makes the stadium 10 times better. It's called Death Valley for a reason, when on the field it feels like you're surrounded and even the upperstands that feel like they're five feet from the sun are right on top of you. Add that with the hill and you've got the best stadium in the ACC.

That being said, I voted for Death Valley because of the enthusiasm that the fans have there, even when they're losing (yes, I was there the last time Wake beat Clemson in the broiling sun!). I will say that neither Clemson nor Tech gets votes for ease in parking/tailgating. Have to walk a mile to get to the stadiums (and the Atlanta skyline ain't all that, GTS).

Undergraduate population just under 4000. If you include graduate schools, knock it up to 8000 or so. Small schools have fewer living alumni to attend the games (i.e. total living alumni is less than current student population at Chapel Hill). And our alumni don't stay in NC after graduation, just as less than half of our undergraduate population are NC residents. That makes it much more difficult to come back for every game. I tend to see Wake play AT Clemson and AT Georgia Tech because those venues are a 2 hour or less drive for me. I'm sure I'm not alone amongst Wake fans who attend when they can. That leaves the Triad area residents to fill the seats. And with many of them being card-carrying bandwagon fans for a couple of other in-state schools or alums of other in-state schools, the number of potential seatfillers just went down. Wake's Sports Marketing Dept. does host special event games to draw in local youth which I think is a nice touch: gives the kids a chance to see an ACC game at a discount, and gives the school some exposure among potential future students. With Grobe at the helm and the football program on the rise, I think the seats will gradually be filled to capacity over the next few seasons.

I voted for CLEMSON, was there 2 years ago for Bobby's 300th and BOWDEN BOWL I. It was awesome I was 10 rows from the top and the atmosphere was amazing in that place. I also think Wake is a great stadium small and comfortable, everything is right there. Finally I think DOAK is rather special, after all that is where I saw my 1st college game!

In my unbiased opinion, I've gotta agree with JD on this one. Kenan is one the best settings in college football...it looks like it's right out in the middle of a forest (Wake fans, insert joke here).

Kenan is one of the best visually designed stadiums. Nice groundswork / appearance. It's pretty well kept up too. I still give the nod to BDS@HGF - but I am incredibly bias.

Wow, some nice (unexpected) compliments from a couple of Jackets.
Let me return the favor and say that although I've never been to BDS, it appears to be a really beautiful setting. I'd really like to see a game there at some point....
The only ACC stadiums I've been to are Kenan, Wallace-Wade, Death Valley, and "Carolina Friendly Stadium."

Death Valley has you all beat, hands down. The largest stadium, the loudest, the most tradition, and the best fans. If you want to see for yourself then check-out http://www.sportingnews.com/cfootball/stadiums/acc.html
See you in the Valley soon.

The only problem I see with Death Valley is that if you sit near the top of the Upper Decks it is downright scary. I don't know of any other stadium built so steep. You also have to walk a hundred steps up and down to get to the bathroom or concesion stands.

gotcha beat!

Ya know...when I posted, I forgot all about No Car
That is a pretty setting. Decent size stadium,
also.
I would debate the Clemson crowd on their stadium
being the loudest! I believe Campbell is twice
as noisy as Clemson. It was loud at Clemson the
night Bowden won his 300th game. That was a helluva game and a loud stadium. The other two
times I was there...the place was pretty quite.

UNC as a good tailgate place?
I have now lost all respect for USA Today.
That is the dumbest thing I've ever seen written. Even the UNC fans themselves have to admit thew parking situation at UNC does not lend itself to a good tailgate scene.

Baddour is working to make it more of a "park-like" atmosphere around Kenan in upcoming seasons. I still think there is a great atmosphere on campus on game days. The Old Well Walk and all the events at Polk Place are a great testament to that....
The open-container laws have been killing us in the past, as far as tailgaiting goes. Luckily, everyone is being a little more lax about it.
You're right about parking -- it's not ideal. But, I would take our setting over State's gravel parking lot in the middle of nowhere....

JD - do you realize that the setting at State that you lament is regarded as one of the better tailgate scenes in the conference?
Just because you paint a piece of sh*t carlina blue does not mean it doesn't still stink.
You need to take off your blinders and recognize that UNC's football stadium has nothing going for it other than scenery.
The fans historically suck.
The tailgating is only slightly better than that at Duke.

Sorry, that's your opinion dude.
If by "tailgating scene" you mean people harrassing and throwing things at opposing fans, then maybe State tops the conference. If you mean baking out in the sun next to the stench of the livestock from the state fair, then maybe State tops the conference.
This is not meant to be a simple attack on State, because I'm sure many people have had enjoyable experiences outside the stadium. But many people I know have not....
The tailgating is fine for many people around Kenan. The stadium is on-campus and therefore just about any student that wants to can walk out of his/her dorm and tailgate near the stadium. If you know where to park, then there is great tailgating going on around you too. I'm not saying it can't be improved all over, but it's there....

It's obvious Death Valley is the best. I mean come on, 82,000 fans, the hill, the rock, the tradition. NUFF SAID. But yeah Bobby Dodd is pretty tight also, i have been there, second oldest statdium ever built. not bad
