The only real sport is football. And you guys got nothing. Even in your weak mans game called basketball we got to the finl four and we dont even care about that. BIG 12 RULES
All I will do is laugh <img border="0" alt="[laugh]" title="" src="graemlins/laughing.gif" /> and say nothing more.
Thats right. Laugh it up tarheel shmarheel. Even you weak man's game basketball team sucked this year. I remember you getting spanked to the bone when you played Texas. And we kicked their behinds. Ha Ha. You can't even come close to the sooners.
National Title and the Orange Bowl...or stuck in the midwest shucking corn...TOUGH CHOICE!!!
Sooner, this thread belongs in the Assault forum.
You won the national title in a weak mans game. ANd you got Killed in the Orange Bowl. My team and my conference are the shiznits of the country. And it aint no fooling. The only reason you got to the Orange Bowl is because someone from the crappy ACC had to go. At least we don't have the worst team in Division 1 in our conference. Duke-da-Dukey-Duke-Sucks-Sucky.
That's something we have in common. We can all diss Dook!

They're like the runt of the pack...nobody wants to accept them as their own. <img border="0" alt="[laugh]" title="" src="graemlins/laughing.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[laugh]" title="" src="graemlins/laughing.gif" />

BTW, Boomer Sooner! OU is one of my favorite schools.

So you admit it then. At least we can agree on that. If we had Duke then maybe we wouldn't be so good. By the way any of you want to bet me on the upcoming season? BIG 12 verses the ACC? I bet we beat you more than you beat us. Take it to the bank.
Im going to assume you are refering to football. What bet? Head to head? Rankings? Bowl games?

Which ACC teams play Big 12 this season?

Like Pooh once said, I guess it's the nature of the beast.

The only reason the big 12 is there is for the ACC to piss on.

FSU will spank your ass in football. Maryland and GTech could beat you, too.

Duke sucks in football, but take it on the hardwood, where the real men play. Only pussies play football.

BTW, that last paragraph is just trying to show you how ridiculous your argument sounds. I would take Shaq over any football player in a fight anyday.
Gosh Nate, even when we are on the same side I find it hard to agree with you. <img border="0" alt="[Bang Head]" title="" src="graemlins/banghead.gif" />
ahem ::cough::

BAHHHHHHHH HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA

The ACC brings in more money with 9 teams than the Big 12 with a 3 more. Give me a break. The southeast (ACC, SEC, touch of Big East) is were sports are at. Period.

nate jonesacc. How far did Duke go in the tournament? Basketball is an inferior sport. Everyone knows it. And even in the #2 sport, we still are better than you. And imagine the score in football. It would be 70-0 by halftime. By the time our third string got the score up to 70-0 we'd have to call off the dogs.

Rt1Rebel. I dont know who plays who this year. It doesnt matter. We are superior. We had 4 teams this year who were better than your best team who was a lucky fluke.
ACC Football > Big 12 Football

Before last season...

I scratched out a list of the Big 12 teams and began tallying up Ws, Ls, and Ts once again. The Big 12 proved to be more of a challenge since their matchups with current ACC teams are less frequent. However, following the objections from Big Ten fans who voiced resentment of the small sample size I used in my earlier efforts, I decided to go as far back as it took to get four head to head matchups for each Big 12 school. I discovered that Colorado has only played against a current ACC team once, when they beat Clemson in a bowl matchup back in the '50s. Iowa State has matched up against a current ACC team three times, earning a 1-2 record in the process.

I was able to find four games for each of the other Big 12 schools and when I tallied up all the marks in my Ws, Ls, and Ts column I came up with 16 Ws and 28 Ls. I scratched my head, did the math again, and came up with the same result.

That's right Big 12 fans...16 wins and 28 losses in the last four (or fewer in the case of Colorado and Iowa State) head to head games for each current Big 12 school against current ACC schools. Only Missouri and Oklahoma have a winning record when I look at my tally. Baylor and Texas A&M break even at 2-2. Nebraska is 0-4 against current ACC teams after getting punked by FSU and blownout by Georgia Tech in bowl games. Texas is 1-3. Kansas State is 1-3. I won't bore you with more details and losses.

Well you need to know about the things on which you bet. BTW, since the Big 12 has 50% more teams, I assume that it would be naturally acknowledged that, all other things being equal, you would have a weighted advantage in this bet. Can one of our stats guys run the schedules to find out if this bet is feasible?

<small>[ May 03, 2002, 07:01 PM: Message edited by: Rt1Rebel ]</small>
georgia_tech_swagger. Thats a typical thing to do to try to find numbers to prove your side of anything. People can do that any way they want. How about I use power rankings and top ten ranked teams over the last few years? You can't even come close and if anyone thinks that Maryland was really a top ten team, they are sadly mistaken. The fluke season will be brought to justice this year. Someone always has to win the crappy ACC and last year it was those guys. They were really probably about 15-20th best team in the country.
FSU has been in the top ten for most of the past 10 years.

Sorry Sooner, but GTS has a better argument than you do thus far! He actually has statistics! All you have is fomenting rhetoric!

<img border="0" alt="[laugh]" title="" src="graemlins/laughing.gif" />
I would be willing to admit that the Big 12 is a better football conference than the ACC but that is just because there is nothing else to do out there. <img border="0" alt="[laugh]" title="" src="graemlins/laughing.gif" />

(no offense to soonerterp)
OK. Since you guys need to see the data in front of your eyes, I went and found some power rankings. Notice the huge gap between the top two conferences and everyone else. We were neck and neck with teh SEC all year for top honors and in some power polls we WERE the number 1 team. Here is a link. <a href="http://www.kiva.net/~jsagarin/sports/cfsend.htm" target="_blank">http://www.kiva.net/~jsagarin/sports/cfsend.htm</a> Now you have numbers on my side too so it is just proving my point that you can support any argument with data. You just need to go find it which I did for you since you didnt believe me.
Alright sports fans, here it is, courtesy of JoltinJacket:

Aug. 24 - Florida State vs Iowa State (@ KC)
Sep. 14 - Texas at North Carolina
Sep. 21 - NC State at Texas Tech

3 games, so no chance of a tie!
So what was the bet, Sooner?
Looks like you got some lucky matchups. Florida State verses Iowa State is about the only way you guys could get a locked up victory. But Texas will kill North Carolina. It comes down to the Texas Tech game. I will admit that with these three games it could go either way.
And how come it says I'm a nobody. I want to change it like you guys did. How do you do that?

Post on the Sports Bar that you want it changed, and someone will take care of you. But if you lose the bet, your title will be 'Loser.' <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />
Rt1Rebel. How about this for the bet. If my conference wins more games then you have to change yours to say BIG 12 RULES. And if your conference wins more then I'll change mine to say ACC RULES. But I want to include bowl games too.

Sooner or Later you will be a basketball team. You make one final four run and all of the sudden you are better than us at basketball? Please! At least give me a reasonable argument.
<img border="0" alt="[laugh]" title="" src="graemlins/laughing.gif" />

You guys are much better than us at football, and I admit that.

Terpy, I am a huge football fan. Football is not inferior to basketball.

"BTW, that last paragraph is just trying to show you how ridiculous your argument sounds. "

I wish you would actually read my posts from time to time if you want to comment on them. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="rolleyes.gif" />

Almost my whole post was an imitation, if you didnt notice.
Sooner

Also, do you realize that we lost to the same team? And, you got spanked, (or close to it) too.

You made it to the final four this year. Whoop de damn doo. Try making it consistent year in and year out and then come talking.

I assume you mean out of conference (in-conference would just be a 50-50 split) and I assume you mean as a percentage of those games played. I know the Terps play some pretty lame out of conference teams. Still, we have Duke...
Hey Sooner with the mouth. I'm holding you to your original bet. I have not researched the field for your "OK, you got me, how bout this" bet, but I've decided that it has to be even more meaningless. For example, other than ND, Maryland's OOC schedule includes such illustrious programs as Akron, Eastern Michigan and Wofford. I can only imagine what it looks like for the entire ACC and Big 12. Next time you talk crap, you should know what you are talking about.
Rt1,

Sooner or Later he will respond to this thread.

Or maybe he has nothing to say
BTW, how did you get such a sig line?!?! <img border="0" alt="[laugh]" title="" src="graemlins/laughing.gif" />
I was meaning Sooner or Later's "I am a NOBODY!" sig line. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />
Nate, check PM.

I guess I have to spell things out for you guys again. I'm not changing the bet I'm just including any possible bowl games between the conferences. So there are 3 regular season games but we could also meet in bowl games and I think that they should be included too. Becuase they are intraconference games too. And when did I ever say anything about including games against Akron and Wofford? Before you talk crap, maybe you should read my posts a little better.
DAMN...I wish more people from other conferences would come here and talk **** . This guy is a TRIP!!!!
OK Sooner, I bet you that both the ACC AND the Big 12 BOTH go .500 in conference games. I know I'm going out on a skinny limb with such a wild prediction, but I feel lucky. Wanna take it?

<img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="rolleyes.gif" />
Wow. I guess the rumor about ACC folks is really true. OK I will spell it out for you again. BIG 12 verses the ACC. Whoever wins the most games wins the bet. This should include the 3 regular season meetings and any possible meetings in bowl games. Do I need to make it clearer than that? If the ACC wins more times than I change my little line under my name to say ACC RULES. And if the BIG 12 wins which they will then you will change your little line to say BIG 12 RULES. Deal?
Bowl games are certainly another source for some gaming, but we have not been specific about them, and I'm sure that once they are announced, we will have more to discuss.
Hey how did my line change to you will all submit to OU? Thats fantastic. Who did that for me? Maybe all you ACC people aint so bad after all.
<img border="0" alt="[Bang Head]" title="" src="graemlins/banghead.gif" />

OK, let me understand. I know I'm a tad slow. Total WINS does not work, 12 teams vs 8. In the ACC, all teams face each other once, and the result is a .500 for the conference. I have a feeling that this is not the case in the Big 12. Still, in conference games probably account for the same percentage of games played and also equal a .500, therefore, a wash. So now we are down to OOC games and bowl games. I already expressed my disgust with most OOC games, and I have no idea about bowl game guarantees etc, so I will not bet those until they are set. So what are we left with? The 3 games YOU wanted to bet on! Do I understand?
