Awesome win for USA! <img border="0" alt="[Cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/cheers.gif" /> When do we play again?
USA meets South Korea on Monday.
So, are they going to play too?

-JD
You so funny, JD!

As a matter of fact, I think USA is gonna kick some South Korean booty on Monday.

And while they do that, they just might play a game of futbol too. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="tongue.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

Evidently there is enough interest in soccer in the state of Georgia to convince the main ABC affiliate to air the World Cup final.

By MIKE TIERNEY
Atlanta Journal-Constitution Staff Writer

Inundated by e-mail and telephone calls from angry soccer fans, WSB-TV changed course today and decided to show the World Cup finals live Sunday morning.

The telecast begins at 6:30 a.m. and the game at 7 a.m.

WSB, an affiliate of ABC, had chosen to carry only the taped replay of Brazil versus Germany provided by the network at 12:30 p.m. Sunday. It intended to stick with local programming, primarily news.

But after much of the soccer community mobilized and vented on WSB, it elected to air the live version, which is also available on the Spanish-language Univision.

"We're here to serve our viewers," said Greg Stone, WSB's vice president and general manager. "They have spoken and we have listened. We're thrilled with the support and interest in this event and happy to rearrange our programming to carry it live." </font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">*makes note to set alarm for 6:45 am on Sunday and plan to attend the later church service*
I'll definitely be pulling for Brazil. Charlotte has a decent-sized Brazilian population, and I'd say that about a quarter of the people I work with every day are Brazilian. I want to have happy customers on Monday!

Oh man...I know we'll be watching this game early Sunday a.m. <img border="0" alt="[laugh]" title="" src="graemlins/laughing.gif" /> Now that Argentina is out of the running *sigh* the hubby is rooting for Brazil, while I'm torn between rooting with him or rooting for a part of my heritage (a small part, albeit <img border="0" alt="[laugh]" title="" src="graemlins/laughing.gif" /> ). Either way...this is gonna be a great game! <img border="0" alt="[Cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/cheers.gif" />

The Final draw for the 2010 FIFA World Cup will be staged in Cape Town, South Africa, on 4 December 2009 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre

The official mascot for the 2010 FIFA World Cup is Zakumi, a leopard with green hair. His name comes from "ZA", the international abbreviation for South Africa, and "kumi", a word that means "ten" in various African languages

Vuvuzelas are long plastic horns, popularised by South African football fans. The sound of a thousand vuvuzelas is much like the Satanic drone of a million angry hornets. I.e. annoying as hell.

Of course, I'm sure many fans, especially those in South Africa, love the sound of vuvus. It's a noise that has come to symbolise sport – but especially football – in the country.

Most of the trumpets are mass-produced by a black-owned, South African company (Masincedane Sport) – a good thing, obviously – and I don't think it's my place to call for some sort of ban on the vuvus, as some people (including a certain host of World Soccer Daily, whose name I have already mentioned) have. And there's no way Fifa would consider a vuvu ban - it's insulting to South Africans and also, consider how much cash Sepp Blatter Soccer News Topics and his cronies stand to make from World Cup-branded trumpets.
