Rumors are spreading in the MLB

Larry Walker to the D-Backs?
Yankees going shopping with Pettite and Posada?
Glavine to the Phillies?
Thome to the Phillies?

But one I've followed is Dusty Baker. Will Dusty leave San Fran for Seattle or Chicago? This from ESPN.com...

Quote:The 53-year-old Baker, who just completed his 10th year with the Giants, said when the playoffs began that he did not intend to "break the bank" -- meaning the $6 million a year Joe Torre got from the Yankees -- "but I want to be near the bank."

Neither Baker nor Sabean could immediately be reached for comment. ESPN's Peter Gammons reports Baker met briefly with Magowan last Wednesday.

Baker's name has been mentioned for the vacant managerial jobs in Seattle and with the Chicago Cubs -- two attractive openings that have yet to be filled after many clubs have already made their hires.

Baker's contract expires Wednesday

Other Notes
-------------------
The Phillies have the money to get both Thome and Glavine. Remember how they got rid of Rolen, Glanville, Person, Ricky Bottalico, and Terry Adams. That totals 23 million. But the question is, will Glavine and Thome take the offers?

But other rumors say that if Thome and/or Glavine don't sign, they'll try for Jeff Kent and/or Cliff Floyd.

Is this the rebirth of the Phillies?
I have heard that Tommy Glavine will be pitching in Philly next year. The Braves seem destined not to resign him.

Also, I understand that Greg Maddux may not calling Turner Field home in '03 also.

The wheels are turning. 03-confused
