I beg to differ...Ed really stepped up and got things done tonight as well.

BTW, Jack had a ton of TOs by my count.
Earth to Nate:

That was his a) first game on the road and b)it was against a Top 20 team

Cut him some slack

Mr Billet is shooting what, .326% ? Averaging 2 assists per game, and 11 points per game, but wait...point guards dont have to score, do they Nate?
I bet the HEY NATE, DOOK LOST thread will have at least 100 posts......
Gimme a link, rick. I am so there.

hmmm, Mr. Billet had what, 28 points against a top 20 MSU team?

Smart one, Techfan...

But, wait, I thought that Jack would hold his own against the Blakes and the Duhons, and would dominate the Hodges, the Billets, the Jenifers, the Taron Downeys etc.... So, in theory, he should have AT LEAST held his own against Minnesota. But, what happened? He had 5 points, 7 turnovers and blew the game.

Here we go. Against Kentucky he played 29 mins, 15 pts on 3-10 shooting, 4 assts and 5 turnovers.

Was that as a freshman?
Ummm, Georgia was ranked as high if not higher than Minnesota... so it wasn't his first game against elite competition.

and LMFAO! 17th in the nation is ELITE <span style='font-size:21pt;line-height:100%'>8</span> ?

Nope that was this year.

Yeah... I'm guessing that wasn't his first away game against the press from an elite 8 team... I could be mistaken... was it?
At Virginia it was, but not in his college career. I don't have his Rutgers stats in front of me, but since you're comparing Billet and Jack I went with what he's done this year.
Why are we comparing Jack and Billet or Jack and Duhon or any other upperclassman anyway? You can't make a fair comparison. Compare Jack with Felton or Travis Garrison or some other freshman.

You can compare them for this year. OBVIOUSLY, Duhon, Ed Scott, Blake, Julius Hodge are all EASILY better than Jack this year. I forget who, but some dumb schmoe said that Jack was as good as Duhon etc... or whatever. That is just ridiculous. Jack isn't even as good as our 2nd string PG.
who IS your 2nd string PG?

By the end of they year, you'll see Minnesota in the Elite Eight, but Duke wont be there, so I guess you'll have some time to watch Minnesota play...
gtballgirl Wrote:who IS your 2nd string PG?
Sean Dockery... rated by almost every recruiting guru higher than Jack, and was a McDonald's AA, which Jack wasn't.

Wanna make a bet on who will go further? Duke or Minnesota?

PLEASE bet me!!!
LMFAO!!!

That "elite 8" team almost lost to Arkansas Little Rock AT HOME
i have to agree with nate

minnesota wont even be close to making it into the elite 8
The ACC is just stacked in quality point guards, this nation's freshmen class especially. Jack can play with any of the other PGs in the conference. Once you get into college, your high school accolades mean nothing. That said, I believe Jack will become one of the better pure PGs the league has ever seen and eventually make his way onto an NBA team.
hmmm... Chris Bosh had 5 points against Duke today... I wonder why...
I had just IMed GTS to warn him that Nate was going to be all over the GT fans after today.

LMFAO!
Well... if Duke's only chance to beat GTech was today, they better stir up some home cooking at their home...
For God's sake... how did I know this was going to get thrown back up to the top sometime today.
nate jonesacc Wrote:Well... if Duke's only chance to beat GTech was today, they better stir up some home cooking at their home...
For the record, Duke is not 20 points better than Tech. Foul trouble and shooting colder than Ted Williams contributed to that. You saw that even with Bosh out of the gameplan, we were within 5 pts with average shooting in the first half.
Avg. Shooting? I would call that a horrid performance behind the arc given what they have shown they are capable of.
We weren't exactly lighting it up from behind the arc either.

Even without Redick, we dominated the 2nd half.
Just one thing. I admit that Chris had his worst game in his career today...but your boy Reddick didn't play too hot either. They were talking all game about how both team's top players were having bad days. So if you are going to jump on Bosh for having ONE bad game, which just so happened to be against Duke, let's talk about Reddick having one of his worst games against Tech as well.

Thankfully, we have other top players on our team to step it up 03-wink

LOL, I'm not jumping on Bosh... just Jack. Jack was most of the reason you lost today. Without him feeding the ball the Bosh in the low post (where he's virtually unstoppable) you're screwed.

Redick had 10 points, a few rebs and assists, not terrible, or terrific.

Dahntay for ACC POY... :D :D

The best defender in the league now has an offensive game!!!
nate jonesacc Wrote:Jack was most of the reason you lost today.
Even though Jarret had one of his better games. He didn't turn the ball over much, had 4 assists and only 2 turnovers. Okay, so he went 3-7 but we have other shooters to cover that. So IHMO Jarret was definitely one of the reasons Tech hung around for a while.

It's not what he did, it's what he didn't do. He didn't feed Nelson, Bosh and Shenscher, so Tech never established a low post game, dooming their offense for the whole game.

Okay. But this was one of Jarrett's better games, ball handling wise. He usually has many more turnovers. And who was feeding Elder for his 22 points? Honestly, Luke doesn't seem comfortable with the ball. He makes me very nervous. Most times he did get a feed, he was so well defended his shot was blocked or he turned it over.
If Bosh is God, what does that make our Bosh-stoppers Horvath, Shelden and Sanders?
it took 3 of them to stop him...

Elder can score on his own cause he's a slasher and creator. Bosh depends on Jack to feed him the ball in scoring position.

Like I said, when Jack doesn't do that (today), GT loses.

Feeding the ball down to Bosh? He had fouls all game! Jack did what he could to keep us in the game in the first half.

BTW...reddick is no good till I see him perform well against Tech...

Bosh did other things except rebounding....he brought the ball up most of the time in the 1st half...

You can say that, but that would be going against your word just to match mine...

Yes, he's a beast, I was just trying to show you how ridiculous your Redick comment was.

Redick did other things, too, like bringing the ball up the court and playing solid defense.
Bahh...Redick was soo off they hardly played him...

Until I see him perform well against Tech, he's nothing in my book...statistics don't mean jack to me...

I continue with my opinion...all that matters is how you contribute, not how many shots you take...redick didn't play well...Tech has always done a good job at shutting down a teams best man(take out Carmelo Anthony 03-wink ). Im still waiting...Redicks got 29 days till he finds out what coming to AMC is all about
Just stirring the pot a little...

[quote]Various quotes from Nate throughout this thread:

-> Jack is a mediocre PG, and that will probably be your downfall this season.

->Now, allow me to objectively rank the ACC starting PGs.

1 Blake
2 Duhon
3 Scott
4 Hodge
5 Felton
6 Billet
7 Jack
8 Wake PG
9 FSU PG

-> If I was you, I would be satisfied with mediocre.

-> Trent Strickland or Justin Gray are better than Jack. Oh, and another thing, if Jack is so good, then why didn't Coach K recruit him, even though Jack wanted Duke to recruit him?
