The challenge: Identify the most officially recognized NCAA I-A Football Championships, starting with the year 1910 and progressing year by year up to 2001.
You cannot post answers twice in a row. Somebody else must answer between your your answers.
A winning tie means all those tied receive immunity.
Edited posts are invalid.
Posting a year out of order will not count as a valid answer.
All answers must include: year, team
Misc. Quirks:
From 1935 on, National Championships were selected by Helms Athletic Foundation and College Football Researchers Association. If these two did not agree (rare), the official national champion was the team declared so by the Helms Athletic Foundation.
From 1950 on, championships were selected by the AP and Coach's Polls. If these polls did not agree, both teams selected by these polls were officially recognized national champions. In these "split" years, BOTH National Champions are required to count as a valid answer.
