If the White Sox were able to sign Magglio to a long-term contract, do you think we should make this trade? I kind of have mixed feelings on it.

cwise memphis Wrote:You can't trade either jones. too much fan loyalty. Maggs is great, but the braves, in a big park, need andruw in center, and chipper is to talented, too important, and too GOOD to risk trading away and blowing up in Chi Town.when you say blowing up in Chi town, Do you mean chipper would have better than a 35 hr, 110 RBI season? Because that's what maggs is going to give you. not to mention that chipper is an awful fielder.

flyingswoosh Wrote:I don't think trading either of the jones's is going to hurt an already poor fan base.I disagree. It would make the fan base just as upset as it did when Glavine signed with the Mets or when we traded Millwood to the Phils.

flyingswoosh Wrote:Well, I've watched him everyday he's been back at 3rd, and he's playing a whole lot better over there than he used to.GDawgs88 Wrote:no. I can assure you that with age, players don't become better fielders.

jrhessey Wrote:you're right Swoosh, 2 errors in 58 games is terrible...you do of course recognize that errors is a completely pointless statistic, for an individual. Have you ever thought that he's made less errors because he's losing range? Obviously you haven't.
That is, in games played, just under one third of a season and put him on pace for 5.58, or 6, errors this season a career best.
If you would like to look at his last 4 seasons in errors, they are 25 in 2000, 18 in 2001, 7 in 2002, 7 in 2003.
Notice a trend yet???

Now look at it this way, we have to shed another 15 million by next season due to AOL cutting payroll, do we do this trade and still have something left and won't have to shed any money.techfan, I doubt we'll make this trade now that we've started to win again. I don't think JS wants to break up the team.
I say we do it, but only if we get a AAA pitcher. Juan Cruz might be able to start some, and we could always bring up Trey Hodges.
Quote:BTW, on Hodges, I think we sold him to a Japanese team.
