Thumped by the Gals, I mean Gaels of Iona. Plus Sean May is possibly done for the year. Looks like its back to the basement with ya.
I don't remember any Heel fans pouring it on when Evtimov went down before the season....

I worded that wrong. I wasn't ragging on UNC because they lost May. I'm just ragging you guys because you lost to a team like Iona. I don't like to see any team lose key players....or any players.
jd.. i'm not a huge trash talker on the boards, as you are well aware (i save it for IM

) i gotta say though that it concerns me that you guys lost to iona.. with or without may.. scary stuff.
of course, md has yet to win a big one, so we shall see. :(
FWIW, Iona wasn't playing with their best player.
Plus, this was a team that has already lost to Florida International, Fairfield, Akron, and Rhode Island this year. In one of their wins, they needed a 3 at the buzzer to beat Div. II Lipscomb.
OK, not to make excuses, but we were without May, Jawad(flu) and Scott(disciplinary suspension). Rashad has the flu too, but played. We lost because of those factors and not playing well. It is still gonna be a better year than last. BTW, CP, play someone.
BTW, for all you Jacket fans, one word. Syracuse.

Your point? Syracuse is miles ahead of Iona (not that Carolina isn't). We got blown out by them...no problem. I expected that to happen a couple times early on with a young team like ours. If we were to lose to someone like Marist or or Elon, I'd be worried.
I'm not saying anything against the Heels - I was just pointing out who Iona had already lost to.
And why did you leave the "one word for the Jackets...Syracuse" but remove your "for you Pack and Duke fans...play somebody" posts?

I know how you can't be happy Sean...

You had May for half of the game, FWIW.
Even without Jawad, Scott (who provides little) and some of May, you should have beaten Iona by 30 points. They are awful .
Did not mean to remove the State "play someone" post. Those assholes are gonna get theirs. Who the **** have they played?? NOBODY!
Yeah, we had May, with a freakin broken foot. I CANT ****ING WAIT UNTIL STATE AND DOOK LOSE. I AM GONNA POST ABOUT 100 THREADS ABOUT EACH GAME. Their schedules are a joke.

State's is a complete joke. Duke's is not great. It's not on State's level, either.
If anyone wants the reasons for Duke not playing a top 10 schedule this year... here they are.
1) Michigan, St. John's and UCLA series. We have to finish up the contract we had with all 3 of these teams. Back when we signed the home and home deal, all 3 were much better than they are now.
2) Since we went to England, we couldn't play in a preseason tournament. That's where most teams, ex: UNC, get their good competition.
Besides that...
Ohio State is not bad AT ALL. They only lost to #1 Alabama by 6, and the game was close all the way.
Davidson is a serious team this year. Besides Duke and Arizona, they have been winning by 50+ game in and game out. Davidson-AZ was very close for about 23 minutes.
UCLA, talented as they are, haven't found it yet. Well, they do play to their competition. UCLA will lose to Ark-Pine Bluff on Tuesday, then blow a top 10 team out the next day. The talent on that team in unreal, and they will wake up come February.
Michigan has won 5 straight, FWIW.
BTW, our next OOC games are Dayton, Butler and Georgetown, all who are good teams. I think SSJT can attest to GT, Dayton has beaten Cinci (#19) and Villanova. Butler, don't know about them this year, but they were about 18-0 at one point last season.
I will agree with your assesment of the Duke schedule. UCLA, Michigan and St. Johns were better then.
BTW, Nate, this was aimed more at CP than you or any other Dukie.

Iona 65
UNC 56
Looks like you got yours without even playing someone.
Rick: Brush it off and ignore them. They wait until we lose one of our best players and then they pour it on because they know their chances of winning are much improved now.
Wouldn't it be funny if we still beat them, though?

By the way, not having Jawad was a bigger factor in our loss than not having Scott and having an injured May for half the game (not as big a factor as our playing like horse dung, though). Jawad is the glue to our team, and we would seriously struggle in any game without him.
