NCAAbbs - Danytay Jerk Face

This Jones fellow who plays for Duke is a jerk. He isn't a thug or a gangster; he is an idiot. He is constantly looking to throw a cheap shot, taunt an opposing player, trip someone, or do some stupid crap like that. I have seen numerous times this season when he has gone out of his way to make an unsportsmanlike play. I am hoping that someone, sometime soon, just hits him smack in the face. I don't care what the reason, who it is, etc. I just want somebody to lay into his @$$. What an idiot, if I was Duke fan I would be embarassed.

What the **** are you talking about? Dahntay is a class act. He has never thrown a cheap shot, where the **** are you pulling this ****** from? Sounds like you're pulling a "classic Nate" to me. BTW, Dahntay is on the ACC honor roll, something that can't be said for most of your team.

Let me go look up the transcript to the interview he just had with Jim Rome. Having met Dahntay, I know for a fact that he would not throw a cheap shot at anyone. For you to accuse him of such is bull**** and you know it. You're just looking for something to base your diatribe on after JJ Redick bitchslapped your one of many "teams". What is it now? UNC, Notre Dame, Arizona, UVA... :rolleyes:

If you look at the context of what hoops was saying, he's obviously talking about what Jones does on the court. I really didn't see anything about schoolwork at all.

Not that this applies to Jones... but some people have great book smarts and poor common sense. If you asked me to define "intelligence," my definition would have a lot more to do with street smarts and common sense than with book smarts.

Once again, I'm not saying that Jones is an idiot or anything like that. I'm just pointing out that his GPA or whatnot really has nothing to do with this argument....

I'll talk to Hoops tomorrow about the context he used it in, but when I think intelligence, I think smartness. When I think smartness, school comes to mind. Get my drift?

Plus, Dahntay isn't an idiot at all on the court. He is experienced and is becoming a serious offensive force. He used to often be out of control, which in Hoops' world might mean that he's an idiot, but he is a great player now.

I'm still dumbfounded that someone would launch an attack like that on Dahntay, but you can't expect less from Hoops. He's just pissed off because EVERY time Duke plays, Hoops says we'll lose. Well... :laugh: :laugh: :laugh:

BTW, I even talked to an Indiana fan (and they hate us) about the play, and he said that Dahntay didn't intentionally try to hurt Gray.

Nate let me make some points:

1) Please refrain from using 10 posts in the same topic when you are only replying to yourself. Think what you are going to say, type it, read it, review it, and then post it and be done.

2) I meant to misspell his name.

3) I am not the only person with this opinion based on numerous observations. There are a handful of people on this board who know exactly what I am talking about, and many will chime in and say so. For example, check the Duke Premium board. Although in minority, there are some true Duke fans that agree with me completely on my opinion of your jerkness.

4) I am completely criticizing his attitude ON THE COURT. As we have seen over the past few months, you are very good at stretching what people said or didn't say in addition with changing the subject completely. By my use of idiot, I am using it as a synonym to jerk. I am not in any way getting at what the guy does off the court.

There is a time to support your team, which is the job of being a diehard fan. However, at some point you have to draw a line, take off the glasses that can make you biased towards your team, and make a reasonable comment regarding the recurrent behavior of your player/s.

Coach K has built a program at Duke that has turned into a powerhouse because the entire program conducts itself with class and plays hard but with good sportsmanship. This player has the physical build and enough game to play at Duke, but the way he conducts himself on the basketball court, completely contradicts what Coach K teaches and what Duke basketball is has been respected for for so long.

I know who you are talking about, and a few of the 4 people aren't even Duke fans. They are people on the free board too, who act like Duke fans to try to give Duke fans a bad name. According to John, who can figure out anything he wants about people on the board.

I am. Dahntay sometimes pushes the envelope, I can admit that. But your ****** ****** diatribe of him at the top of this thread is truly laughable.

LOL, I guess that's why Coach K took him as a transfer. Only the 2nd player ever. He has some criteria for transfering to Duke, if you didn't notice.

Did you even watch the game? Sure Dahntay shouldn't have retaliated, but it was VERY clear that the State guy initiated it.

Worry about your own mediocre team.

by the way nate...your team isn't 3-1 in the ACC anymore...you're right down there with the rest of us "mediocre" teams.

Better yet, I'd like to see McCants or Noel stick Jones right in the mouth! The only thing that would be able to save Jones' teeth would be a mouthpiece! :laugh: That would be great, but I don't like the trade-off. Although I (along with a lot of others) would love to see Jones get the $HIT beat out of him, it isn't worth McCants or Noel getting suspended. :laugh:

I did not see the game, but I did see this on IC>.

I just watched the replay on tape several times. Jones dove to the ground for the loose ball rebound (while Ewing was busy fouling Noel). He lifted his leg and deliberately tripped Raymond, who had picked up the looseball and was heading up court, thereby undercutting him. Raymond understandably reacted and Jawad jumped in to hold him back.

All the while, K was screaming at the ref about the foul on Ewing. I was hoping that he was screaming at Tauntay, but in the replay, it was obvious this was not the case.

yes, he intentionally kicked/tripped felton. this was, of course, after his coach didn't take him out of the game for jawing at the carolina bench, and after his coach didn't take him out of the game for slapping a carolina player on the back of the head, and after his coach didn't take him out of the game for running into/shoving head coach matt doherty, and after his coach didn't take him out of the game for elbowing rashad mccants in the mouth...

Did anyone notice how he was talking trash to the carolina bench when he scored?

I was at the game, meaning I saw everything that went on, not just what the camera saw. During the scuffle with Felton, Dahntay DID NOT intentionally trip Ray. It looked sketchy, but after thinking about it, it was pretty clearly incidental contact. Ray got pissed, but was restrained. It's a good thing, too, I don't think he wants to pick a fight w/ Mr. Cut.

Everyone was talking trash to the benches. During warmups, McCants was jawing at the fans, the Duke players, and had a very cocky swagger about him. I'm not saying that that's wrong, because I think it's just part of the game. But... as far as jawing is concerned, it was a two way street.

BTW, 23 pts, 13 rebounds, holding McCants to 2 pts.

Rashad - 19 minutes on a bad back (if what the commentators said was true)
Dahntay- 39 minutes.

I'm sure that there was more to this than Jones' defensive ability, although that had a part in Mccants' poor performance.

K sent Jones to apologize to Doherty because it was an accident. Dahntay said something to the effect of "I accidently bumped him. I have a lot of respect for him and he knows that."

Did he do the same for the Wake game?
