You can still see the first one that's on the historic registry (It moved locations) on, I think Telfair Street, maybe GDawg can tell us the exact location. I know it's ONE of those damn streets in Olde Town. I've only been here since '95 but pretty much know Augusta and GA history like the back of my hand now being a student at Augusta State(One of the best Golf Teams in the nation, BTW) and general dialogue with others.

Trivia:
1) Augusta was one of the first cities in GA.
2) We have the oldest newspaper in the South.
3) We WERE going to be the Capital, they decided for Milledgeville then Atlanta.
4) Most gun powder for the Confederate Army was made in a place that you can still visit....in Augusta (The Confederate Powder Works)
5) James Brown, Amy Grant, The Big Show, and Lawrence Fishburne are from Augusta. (The Big Show was from New Ellenton...an outlying area). James Brown still lives in Beech Island...about 2 minutes from downtown. Hell, I think Ty Cobb was from Augusta. It's called NEW Ellenton because Ellenton was basically taken by imminent domain to build the Savannah River Site to build nukes.
6) Woodrow Wilson's boyhood home is here in Augusta.
Man, as someone from Jackson(Actually Byram) Mississippi, I do love to talk about Augusta. Of course, I HATE what Jackson has become. Augusta, 2 hours from white-water rafting in the mountains, 2 hours from deep-sea fishing, 2 hours from 2 major cities (Atl and Charlotte), and we have a BIG ****** lake (Largest man-made this side of the Mississippi River) about 20 minutes away.
.....for some reason, I think the Chamber of Commerce should put me on their payroll.
Oh yeah, Mercer also has a Med School.

No, I mean the old one, the first one in Georgia. It's down near Le Maison. Kinda like when Greene St. goes under Gordon Hwy and turns into Olde Town. It's down there.

Has anyone heard Jesse Jackson on the Masters? He claims that the Masters is named in honor of all the former slave masters and that it is racist. On Crossfire, he said that he believed that racial, sexual, and religious bigotry was unacceptable, yet the guy kept asking him why he wasn't chaining himself to the all female club in Toronto. God, what a moron.
