I wasn't around for the US Hockey team in Lake Placid - so I will go with the Kerri Strug gymnastic performance a couple of years back in Atlanta. She is all heart. Mary Lou Retton's performance is a better example - but Kerri was almost on empty when she nailed that vault landing. :bluethumb:

I was thinking Kerri Strug before I even opened this thread, so obviously I'm with you on that!!! Classic moment.

Forgot about that: Considering the dislike with France right now - I agree

Of course there was also the time when Jesse Owens showed up Hitler's Aryan team in 1936.

Michael Johnson running 19.32 in the 200 meters in Atlanta. I do not think the record will ever ever be broken!
I was around for the 1980 US Hockey team and that is my favorite Olymic moment.
Back then we had a bunch of college kids playing against a team that was probably better than a professional team.

And we beat the Commies!

Oooh, good one. I had not forgotten about that, but just did not think about it. I want to change my vote to that. What Keri Strug did was fantastic, but what our '80 hockey team did was untouchable.
