``I hope she misses the cut,'' Vijay Singh said after his runner-up finish in the Wachovia Championship. ``Why? Because she doesn't belong out here.''

His comments were the strongest yet about Sorenstam's decision to accept a sponsor's exemption to play in the Colonial. The last woman to play on the PGA Tour was Babe Zaharias, who qualified for the 1945 Los Angeles Open.

Nick Price, the defending champion at Colonial, has said Sorenstam's presence ``reeks of publicity.'' He thinks she ought to qualify if she wants to prove herself at the highest level.

Scott Hoch, who once played with Sorenstam in a mixed-team tournament, said he wants to see her play well so people will realize ``how much separation there is between us and the ladies' tour.''

Singh held nothing back in an interview with The Associated Press as he left the locker room at Quail Hollow late Sunday afternoon, saying the 32-year-old Swede should stick to her own tour.

``What is she going to prove by playing? It's ridiculous,'' said Singh, a two-time major champion who is No. 7 in the world ranking. ``She's the best woman golfer in the world, and I want to emphasize 'woman.' We have our tour for men, and they have their tour. She's taking a spot from someone in the field.''

I expect him to catch some serious hell for those kinds of comments.
He's from a male dominated society, right? If he is, it probably has something to do with how he was raised.
Sorry, but I never liked his arrogant azz anyway.

I like Vijay and can see his point. If she wants to be on the tour, she can compete for it. She damn sure shouldn't be given an exemption to play. This is all for publicity and she will be humiliated.

I say get rid of the LPGA and just incorporate it into the PGA. If women want equality, then there should be no sepereation of men and womens sports. Same thing with the NFL and NBA. If they are good enough at the sport, then you have the best playing with each other and no one can complain about the pay because rookie have minimums.

Our local sports guy here in Augusta, Ashley Brown, was saying the same thing yesterday. They wanted equality for so damn long, yet they still have their own tournaments, etc. Hell, if they want to be fair, kill that Title IX BS and make ALL sports on a competition basis. THEN watch the women bitch because they can't get into ANYTHING.

Excellent points. It's a no-win situation for guys. Hell, you can't blame us for being so DOMINANT IN EVERYTHING WE DO!!! :D 03-wink

That'd be funny...I bet 90-95% WNBA players WOULD NOT make it onto an NBA Practice squad.

If they want Equality give it to em! They say they can do what guys can! Let's see it!!! Heck it's not like we're losing a market...the only women's event bringin in money is most likely tennis. And the sad thing is I'm serious.

I don't know about you, but the last time I turned to an WNBA game on tv...I saw about 3 or 4 missed layups in less than 3 min. That's enough for me..... :snore:

A F-in MEN! You want equality? Eliminate ALL gender-based athletics.

Down with Title IX!
Sorenstom loses and no one cares. Get off the course! Go back to the LPGA!
Hey, give her credit for trying. She was under a huge amount of pressure and she handled herself well. He poor putting did her in. It is, and always has been, the weakest part of her game. She never could get used to the speed of the greens. I, for one, think it was worth the try.
Sorenstam = publicity stunt

The best woman golfer hung with the most mediocre men.....ON THE COLONIAL! Let her ****** get on the Master's. If she DOES make the cut, she'll finish dead last. Women cannot drive as far as men. ESPECIALLY the best woman vs. the best men.

I wonder how they'd feel if Vijay insisted on playing in a LPGA event. Oh, that's right...he wouldn't be allowed.

The green's at the National would eat her alive. They're like putting on glass.
