It looks like Florida is gonna win the wild card. While Philadelphia has a very good starting staff, they can't hit at all and the back end of their bullpen is very bad. Florida has an amzaing starting rotation and a good/very good hitting team. Their 6th and 7th inning relief isn't very good, but looper and Urbina make a good closer and setup man, respectively. unfortunately for the Cubs, their only chance at making the playoffs is to win the division. With Houston losing Oswalt and St.Louis having no pitching, Wood, Prior, Clement and Zambrano and the Cubs look like they might have enough to win the Comedy Central, i mean the NL central.
I agree.
Florida's slightly better than Philly IMO. But they both give the Braves fits. :chair:
Are the Marlins still under the same ownership as when they went to the World Series?
If so, they may be one year wonders yet again as they all get traded after the season.

Im not sure if they are under the same ownership or not but I cant see the same fire sale type thing happening with this team regardless. When they won the World Series the owner had spent a ton of money on expensive free agents and despite their success he was losing lots of money on the team. This Marlins team is for the most part home grown and without many big money free agents. Their payroll isnt near the top in baseball as it was in 1997. The owner gets ripped on a lot for what he did after the 1997 season but really, given the circumstances he had no other choice. He has since rebuilt the team the right way and could be on his way to another World Series in a few years. What the Marlins did in '97 really isnt that much different than what the Ravens did back in 2000, Baltimore owner Art Modell spent extensively in free agency and put together one of the greatest defenses ever for the 2000 season. After a somewhat ill-fated attempt at a repeat in 2001 the team had to be broken up for salary cap reasons. In just one season they have become one of the most promising teams in the league and look to contend again in a year or two, if not this season.
