Well if that isn't typical Falcons luck...Hopefully the guys can rally around Doug Johnson for the first month or two.

The optimism surrounding the Atlanta Falcons' upcoming NFL season suffered a mighty blow Saturday night when Mike Vick went down in a preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens with a fractured bone in his right leg.
One of the NFL's most exciting players, with a slew of endorsement deals, Vick, 23, is almost certain to miss the season opener Sept. 7 at Dallas, if not more.
"They are saying he's probably going to be out six weeks," said Falcons head coach Dan Reeves. "It's a tough break for us."
Play was stopped for more than five minutes, and Falcons owner Arthur Blank almost immediately left his luxury suite and joined Vick in the bowels of the Georgia Dome.
"I'm terribly disappointed," Vick said in a statement. "But this is the ultimate team sport, and we will have to keep playing."
It was not clear whether Vick would be in a cast, but Reeves said team doctors indicated that surgery would not be required. Vick will be re- examined by doctors today.

Doug Johnson will do fine.
Our first 4 games aren't killer, and I see no reason we can't go 2-2 or 3-1.
Will Vick recover from this? I mean will he live up to the hype? I think he will - very tough to see this kind of injury in the preseason :bang:
The Falcons first 4 games (the ones Vick is guaranteed to miss) are the Cowboys, Redskins, Tamba bay, and Carolina. They should go 3-1 even without Vick and if they do they will be in great position to do what is expected when he comes back and it will be an exciting day for everyone in the NFL when he does.

I wouldn't count us as an easy win anymore.

You're right JD. Carolina's no gimme anymore. Sorry to hear about Mark Feilds too. :(
Hey, im not saying they are a gimmie, im just saying the folks in Vegas would say its a game the Falcons should win. Heck I counted my beloved Skins in one of the games the Falcons should win...I was looking at it from a completely objective prespective.
Panthers have a lousy record vs. Hotlanta - no matter the season.
without their absolute star, they could lose all 4 games. It's gonna be a battle and they'll need to prove they have a good enough running game.

The Falcons have a solid defense. They should atleast be able to beat the two teams with rather weak offenses (Carolina and Dallas) Im not really sure how good the skins offense is gonna be yet.
Hey, swoosh. Didn't we beat your Giants without Vick last year? :D
yea you did, but that was before Fassel started calling the plays and the Giants started to win.
Excuses, excuses. :D
And what does Fassel calling the plays have to do with Doug Johnson playing a great game?
because in like 7 games the giants scored 3 TD's until fassel took over. After that, the Giants started scoring a lot of pts.
sorry, it wasn't 3 td's in 7 games, it was 5 passing TD's in 7 games.
Johnson still played great.

i'm guessing you didn't expect them to be this bad?
Personally, I think the Falcons are the worst team in their division with Vick. Yes, even worse than the brown baggers.

Of course not. I thought DJ would at least play decent. HE'S HORRIBLE!!!!!!!
i guess one man can make a big difference, especially when that guy is Michael Vick.
To be fair I dont think anyone expected the Falcons defense to be as bad as it has been. Vick is great but this team looks really bad, not sure if they would be able to win with him or not. Hopefully we will be able to see in a couple of weeks.
Vick is great but I think he has become extremely overrated since the end of last season.
Terpy nails it.
Our D has been downright horrible. I'm being kind of course. :D
And it looks like Kittner is the new starter:

i'm not saying this is definitely the reason, but do you think the defense could be playing worse because; 1) They don't get a rest and 2) They feel pressured to make the big play every time and make up for the offense.

Yeah, those things don't help at all.

Well, at least it's not Jeff George.
Hey, even he wouldn't be as bad as Doug Johnson most likely.
