The Reds offered Larkin a contract to return in 2004, to which he declined. Looks like what should have happened a few years ago will happen next year. Larkin has spent most of the past few seasons on the DL.
I think he needed to do this. He was a great ballplayer but with all those injuries, it's hard to imagine him bouncing back to his old form.
That and he is going to be 40 next season.

My roommate said that he heard that Larkin was planning to play somewhere next season just not with the Reds. At this point in his career he is nothing more than a backup anyways.
Baseball was always my best sport. I always dreamed of playing in the Big leagues (Like most little kids do, whether it be NFL, MLB, NBA or whatever). These guys get paid to play a game...what a dream!!

I would imagine that guys like Larkin just don't want to let go. He has done alot for the Reds Organization and I hope he gets a couple of more years in, no matter where he ends up. I think he would make a decent DH and it could keep him healthier than what he's been the last few years.
I just think he should go ahead and retire. I enjoyed watching him play, but I just don't know if he can help a team out.
Well, it looks like Larkin will be back in Cincy after all.
