well you're right, schmidt is pitching, but i think this is the wrong move. I hate this move, i don't believe in doing things you've never done, it ususally backfires. Schmidt has never thrown on 3 days rest, I would let Jerome pitch today.
You have to go with what gives you the best chance to win in this game. Schmidt obviously gives the Giants the best chance to win. You cannot assume that you will win and have Schmidt for game 5, if you do and you lose you just wasted your best pitcher and you are sitting at home.
Schmidt has the ability to completely shut down an opposing teams lineup you have to throw him even if it is on short rest.
i see where you're coming from, but doing things you've never done, usually doesn't work. Look at game 2. Alou put Nathan in, in the sixth instead of herges (like he would in the regular season). He panicked and it didn't work. I still don't agree with throwing schmidt.
ESPN is reporting Williams is going to get the start in Game 4, I agree that you have to start Williams, you can't just throw Schmidt out in an elimination game and hope for the best on three days rest
