Full Version: Recruiting Violation?

The more I read and hear about what is prohibited during the recruiting process, the more I think I may have committed a recruiting offense this past Saturday prior to the Texas game. Brian Butch walked by where I was sitting on the stone wall in front of Wilson Library and I shouted to him, "Come On Down." He smiled after I hollered at him so we can assume the favored treatment was received. My defense is that I didn't say where to come to when I shouted the words.

While I am posting this in jest, it may very well be that we are headed in the direction of no contact by alums and friends with recruits in the recruiting process.
As long as you didn't slip a hundred-dollar bill into his hand during all that, I think we're safe. <img border="0" alt="[laugh]" title="" src="graemlins/laughing.gif" />

Seriously, though, what constitutes a "violation" these days is so muddled and ambiguous. It gets downright ridiculous sometimes....

Ramfanatic:
I was at Tar Heel town and saw Butch in front of Wilson Library too. I also said hello to him, and gave him a pat on that back and told him to "Come to UNC". I must have seen you.
Hoops13:

The plot thickens. Looks like you are a possible witness against me but the bad news is that you may be a codefendant if you said "Come on down" also. :-)
What an unlikely pair to be hauled down to the courthouse together....

Those rules are something.

Last year I went to a couple of Leon Powe's games in Oakland. I didn't speak to him, but I did wear my UNC sweatshirt and cap, and tried to sit where he'd see me.

But since he signed with Cal, I guess it couldn't have been a violation. Could it?
