After he got shelled by the Mets last night, I'm really starting to worry about him. He had a horrible Spring, and yesterday he was even worse. Plus, he really pitched bad towards the end of last year after that great run he had during the Summer months. I hope he get's it together. We need him to give us 15 or 16 wins this year.

i told you ortiz is much worse than what he showed last year, even though he wasn't that good last year either. What's awesome is that we got merkin valdez in that trade.
I still think it was a great trade but I am concerned about Ortiz right now.

Valdez is a good prospect but he's still years away from the majors. He looked awesome last year, but that was in low-A ball in Hagerstown. Right now the Giants have nothing to show for the trade.

It wasn't like last year was a fluke for Ortiz. He obviously won't win 21 every year, but he's something like the 3rd winningest pitcher in the NL since 1999. He's had years of 21 wins, 18, 17, and two with 14, while his ERA has been 3.81 or lower in 4 of those 5 years. I think he just needs some reps to work the kinks out (like Hampton last year) and he'll be fine.

Absolutely. I don't know why people think last year was a fluke. The guy's won his entire career.
