What do you think of this move? I know Mantei's struggled, but isn't it a little early to give up on him? I guess the D-Backs figure they need to shake things up.
i don't think it's too early. Valverde's been great and mantei hasn't been good or healthy in a long time. Also, Mantei gets paid 9 million dollars.

But that's why this seems a little strange. Usually if a guy makes that much, his team will stick with him to try to get their money's worth.
Anyways, they should look to trade Mantei to a team that needs a closer. The D-Backs don't have much money, and they can't afford to pay Mantei that much if he's not their closer.

i knew that would trip someone up. I didn't mean that he should be benched because he makes a lot of money. i just put in his salary as a little side note. My fault
Nobody in their right mind would take mantei, the D-backs have already tried. he is definitely more of a hindrance than a help.
This is a good move for Arizona, and I would take a chance on Mantei if I was another team. Look at Benitez this year.

I would too. The problem is, they don't have the money to go get him. That's the problem. With everyone lowering their payroll, it would be hard for anyone to go after him.
