I don't like the fit personally. Warner brings a lot of baggage, why did they not just keep Collins? Thoughts?

cheaper than keeping collins at about 9 million/year. actually, much cheaper
I still wouldn't sign him unless they plan to start him. Eli doesn't need a MVP sitting behind him to add to the pressure.
Ok, there are/were a series of problems and holes the Giants dug themselves this offseason. And I thank Jesse Palmer for becoming The Bachelor - a perfect way to sum up last season. Giants first give up too much for Eli Manning at the draft. I'm not saying Eli won't be good, I just don't know if he will be worth a first-rounder next year - time will tell. After all that draft-day drama, it was expected that Collins would be leaving. I had problems with Collins - after his record-tying 5 INT Super Bowl performance, he just didn't do well again. Tons of turnovers, many in the red zone, just don't help the team. With Eli being drafted, though, I wanted to see Collins stay around to teach the rookie. But out goes Collins, and they have 3 QBs (remember, they picked up that huge Kentucky QB whose name escapes me right now) with a combined 6 games started in the NFL. And yes, all are from our "Bachelor". So talks have come down to Warner or Gannon - I'd take either, but I value Warner more only because I know he's still healthy enough to play well. But if I really had my pick, Giants would have Tim Couch by now.

Even with all this talk about the quarterbacks, I still don't think it will matter what QB the Giants have. They didn't really improve the OL, and so any QB will spend half the game on his back.

i would like to know if you are mentally sane? Because;
1) collins was the man, but he had no OL.
2) they COULDN'T keep Collins because he wasn't willing to restructure his contract.
3) You said they gave up too much to get Eli, but then you said you have no idea if they gave up too much, only time will tell. Make up your mind! :mad:
4) This is the the one i have the biggest problem with. You said the G-men did nothing to improve their line. are you insane? let's see, they picked up o'hara who will play center, they picked up the guard barry stokes, and they drafted another very good lineman in Snee. I'd say they did a pretty good job in improving the line.
I'm not saying that it was all Collins' fault. But, after watching enough games and tearing my hair out due to overthrows, fumbles, or interceptions, I was just tired of having him around. Sometimes we need a shakeup and Collins was on the top of my list. After dropping most of our OL in the previous two offseasons, i knew it was going to be a struggle to get an OL back. We've down it slowly. I do like the drafting of Snee, but he is a rookie and you can't account for everything he's going to do. And are you trying to tell me that by signing two guys from the Browns, a team that allowed 4 fewer sacks than the Giants, is a big upgrade? I'm skeptical, i'm sorry. Note that Collins is a PSU product, and as a Nittany Lion myself, I liked having him as a Giant. But it was time for a new QB. Unfortunately, I didn't expect a complete position overhaul leaving the Giants with no QB I know has a history of competance in the NFL. About my deal with Eli, I feel that we gave up too much for Eli. Personally, I don't want him here. But we have him, and he may end up proving me wrong. With me, I always question what we've done, but know that there is nothing that can be done to change it. I can only hope that the Giants do show signs of life, and start to do better.

As for Collins' contract situation, I heard just as much talk from the front office saying they really didn't want Collins back that much, mainly due to the acquisition of Manning. Regardless of why, he's gone and there's nothing that can be done to change that. Again, I wanted Collins around this season to support and help Eli grow - I think Collins would be a great teacher and mentor for this first season. But, as like other things this off season, the Giants did nothing as I had hoped and they'll be a completely new team next year. Personally, I think when you make that many changes, it's hard to expect a team to truly gel and do amazingly well after a horrible season. The future looks bright, but this next season could be long. That's why they play the game, I guess.

i don't care about the collins crap, but i do think you are underestimating the O-line. The 2 guys they got from the browns are supposed to be very good, and even though snee is a rookie, it's not a big deal because, the jints have had a few rookies perform well before.
