I've used WinMx for several years & have never had this problem. I have cable modem & can make a primary connection but nothing pulls up when I search & when others try downloading from me everything times out on them.

I have recently added a router for vonage phone service & know that is probably the cause, but don't know where to go from here. I've tried making a secondary connection only to have the same things happen.


GTS suggested on another board: port blocking. The router is blocking ports.. you need to set the WinMX ports to be forwarded to you in the router.

Anyone know where I can find that info to set the ports up correctly?

In the options of WinMx there should be a place in the options thats lists the port(s)

You're experiencing port blocking due to the router. Configure it to forward the ports WinMX uses to your machine's local IP on the LAN.
